Dayspring Cafe — Restaurant in General Santos

Quaint little coffee spot near Mabuhay Rd, inside Thaoke’s events place. The location was nice and quiet with good parking, which is a huge thing for me since coming to Gensan, where parking space doesn’t seem to be a priority for most business establishments. The husband and I ordered the same coffee. The AMIA LATTE, with extra shot of espresso and sugar syrup. That little cup of coffee did not disappoint. It was perfect! We’ve also tried some breakfast items on the menu, coz why not?

• French Toast, was too cakey for my liking but has good flavor, nonetheless. It could use some compôte for added flare of flavor and presentation.

• Olive Oil Lemon Cake, was delicate and absolutely delicious! I could imagine it’d be perfect with a good cup of Earl Grey tea. Probably one of the best tasting cakes I’ve had in Gensan. Fluffy lemon cake, bursting in bright lemon flavor.

• Croque Madame sandwich. Savory breakfast sandwich topped with egg and bechamel sauce on the side. Also, very delicious! I would definitely order again.

• RACC “coolers”. Strawberry flavored. It’s basically an Italian soda, this one comes in a small cup and has a bitter aftertaste(which I am not a fan of).

Service was great. There was only one person doing all the work up-front but everything came out in a timely manner. I think it’s a perfect place to hang out, so I would definitely come back.

• Also a huge plus, they take Gcash. They currently don’t take card payments. **Cash...

Location-wise, it's perfect for hanging out with friends and family. Especially the outdoor space felt like an extension of the cafe and the koi pond, the experience was serene. The drinks are well-thought of especially the coffee-based drinks. The breads are so good as well! Among the food we tried, adobo and creamy pasta were quite not well-seasoned. The salty and tangy taste of adobo was lacking; and the creamy pasta was too bland. I think this matter can be improved along the way... The rest of our experience was memorable. Kudos...

Nice cafe next to the yumang street. it is a little bit hidden in the backyard beside a hotel. they have free wifi, aircon, and everything is super clean. One thing to improve is to offer visa payment. actually they only accept gcash and cash. would love to have this discovered not on the last day in Gensan this vacation but next time we'll come back... Update Dec 2024 we daily enjoy the breakfast options and great coffee...
