Read morei usually try a place at least twice just to reevaluate or reaffirm my initial experience. this place along with one other resto in the vicinity, are the most often recommended places to me in iloilo. the service is rather friendly, very attentive in spite of the massive size of the place. it surely is a success judging by the sheer size of the resto.
but the food disappointed me massively.....with everything i was told about the place, maybe my expectations were a little lofty. but it just boils down to a few basic things. they cooked the heck out of the fish. the tanigue and tuna were so overdone.....dry dry dry. the giant squid, overdone and tough. chicken, well, a nice way to put it is that they made sure not to under cook the chicken......and the presentation, well it seems like the philosophy is.....cook it, throw it on a plate, serve it....that is about the extent of the thought that seems to go into the plating. i can't reconcile the price points with what we were served........let me just stop there.
given everything i was told, i really was excited to go with family and friends here my first time, and was hopeful the 2nd time....... maybe i just picked 2 bad times to go, and i could be wrong.....but based on my personal experience, i will pass on this...
Read moreTatoy's is often deemed a must-visit in Iloilo, and I wholeheartedly agree. The food, service, and atmosphere are all top-notch. The establishment has two main areas: the restaurant itself, situated across the road from the beach, and a seaside dining area.
The waiters impressively navigate from the restaurant across the road to the seaside dining area, even in the rain, carrying umbrellas and balancing serving plates full of food. This level of dedication and skill is truly impressive and earns the service a perfect 5/5.
We dined in the seaside dining area, which was delightful despite the rain. Under better weather conditions, it would be even more spectacular, but it still deserves a 5/5 for its ambiance.
The food was excellent, with standout dishes like the native chicken, oysters, and bangus (milkfish). Each dish was flavorful and well-prepared, adding to the overall fantastic experience.
In summary, Tatoy's delivers a great dining experience with its delicious food, exceptional service, and pleasant atmosphere. It’s definitely worth a visit...
