Hi, I booked my wedding at this restaurant. Overall, it was okay—the food was okay. I fully paid in advance, expecting the exact number of guests, including the groom and bride, to be covered.
After the event, they gave me an additional invoice, saying it was for the excess number of people who ate. I paid it, but when I got back to the hotel and reviewed my guest list, I found that they had charged me for two kids below 7 years old. I messaged them to ask why I was being charged when kids below 7 were supposedly not included in the headcount. They eventually refunded that amount.
During the wedding, I saw all my guests eating—there were only 28 of them. I also noticed that 4 of our suppliers (event stylists and photographers) went to the buffet area and ate only after the guests had already finished. However, the restaurant still charged me per head for the suppliers as well.
I asked my coordinator who is my sister about it, and she told me she called them to eat toward the end of the event, when the waiters were already starting to pack up the remaining food. We didn’t even ask for a refill, as most of our guests didn’t eat a lot. Being charged per head for leftover food seems unreasonable.
Additionally, when my family brought home the food, the pasta had already spoiled just an hour after being packed. It seems the waiters packed it while it was still hot, which may have caused it to spoil quickly.
I’ve tried messaging The Mango Tree again, but I haven’t received...
Read moreThe place was really pretty - that's the only positive comment I have. We ordered crispy kangkong, mashed potatoes, garlic rice, beef salpicao, pasta negra, and pepper steak. The crispy kangkong was 90% batter, you can barely see the kangkong. It was easily 1000 calories on one plate. We could only eat like 3 pieces of it. They served the mashed potatoes together with kangkong as appetizer, so by the time the main dishes arrived, it was already cold. That was the first time I saw mashed potatoes drowned in gravy with mushrooms that were clearly straight from the can. The waiter told us the salpicao was good for 3 people but I alone could have easily finished that. It was good, not special but fairly good. The garlic rice was cold and the pasta negra was honestly bad, like we ate one forkful and had to put it on the side. Lastly, the pepper steak: they asked us how we preferred the meat and we said medium. It was well done instead. The taste was still good so we finished that. However, I could have easily gone to any bbq stand and get the same taste. Servers were nice and polite but slow. Oh, we also saw two rats chasing each other on top of the mango tree. An young mango fruit also fell on our table but fortunately missed out heads. I get that the last two items are outside their control. To summarize, we won't be coming back. I haven't been disappointed like that in a...
