Padres by Chicago style — Restaurant in Iloilo City

Nice people and clean restaurant but certainly some room for improvement.

Good: the tapioca cups were delicious. Also quite enjoyed the pitcher of lemonade.

Braised beef was apparently OK but a bit sweet.

Bad: Proper construction of a deep dish isn't too complicated: press out dough into a deep dish, bottom layer is mozzarella cheese, then middle layer is topping, usually sausage and/or pepperoni, top layer is a thick layer of chunky tomato sauce. I have been to Chicago and had deep dish pizza there and elsewhere multiple times. What they served was a pan pizza (decidedly not deep dish) with a rather dense crust, and a thin layer of tomato sauce on the bottom, touching the dense crust. The menu description did not include mushrooms so I'm not sure why they were added. Does your dough recipe need to be re-assessed? Perhaps the type of flour used?

I like the restaurant overall and wish them success, despite my disappointment in the CDDP. Please let me know if you update your recipe so I can return...

We ordered oxtongue, fries, carbonara, and one pilsen. The oxtongue was incredibly tender and came with rice. Flavor wise, it was a little too salty for our preference but the softness of the meat made it enjoyable. It did not taste buttery. The rice had a small serving.

Carbonara is highly recommended. It was meaty, creamy, full, and very delicious. One of the best I’ve tried. Will probably order again.

The fries and beers are shown in the picture. The atmosphere of the place is nice, there’s split type aircon and you may dine in front of the counter or in another room. Well-ventilated with ambient music.

Legit! This is one of my fav places. Pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, steaks, roasted chicken.. everything just took my breath away. I fell in love with this place the first time i tasted their chicago style hotdog sandwich. Unlike others that only has ketchup, mayo, and mustard (sometimes), theirs got jalapeno, pickles, tomatoes, and more (which i personally prefer).

The tomato sauce that they ise is definitely italian style. I can't get enough of it. Their bread for burgers and sandwiches are home-made as well as their pizza dough.

The place is just chill. You can definitely savor the food expressing it's deliciousness. Try it so...
