Great ambiance for catching up over a cup of coffee and beautifully plated, baked treats. The salmon and cheese puff is a personal favourite, along with the pain au chocolat.
Be sure to arrive early because they tend to run out early in the afternoon. You're having a lucky day if you catch anymore after 5pm.
You can park your car outside or try to get a tricycle to get here.
The owner is friendly and she often welcomes her guests at the door. She'll guide you as to what's available for the day. If she isn't there, there are often hand-written signs behind each glass case. You can grab a tray and a tong, being cautious not to order too much! The bill tends to add up because all of the choices are delicious.
The treats you choose get heated up and plated artfully. Each pain au chocolat has a generous helping of chocolate that oozes out with every bite. The sausage rolls are perfectly and richly spiced, reminding me of the ones we used to get in our childhood. Every married bite of salmon and cheese will surely have you yearning for more but they run out so quickly so you will have to try your luck and reserve another for the next visit.
You can either dine in their gorgeously painted café that highlights the beauty in Kalibo or, if it is a nice day, relax in the garden outside.
They have a clean and sweet-smelling bathroom too.
Update: I finally got to taste their chicken pesto sandwich and the Char Siu bun. You're paying for the divine curation of the chef as well as the flawless skill that is manifested in their food. It is always worth it.
I'll admit, we were unsure about some of the combinations at a glance. But when we finally took a bite, our taste buds were elated when all of the flavours married each other. It was moment just like that Ratatouille scene with the fireworks.
It still feels like Honoré is a hidden gem in Kalibo. We're incredibly fortunate to have Jojo Aldecoa in our midst so please visit this modest yet world-class bakery. You will...
Read moreHonestly, one of the best bakeries i went to. The place looked great and has nice ambiance. The food was made really well and the chef was hands on and greets customers personally. Price-wise, relatively cheap for the good quality of the food unlike other places. Staff was nice. The place has fast wifi and air conditioning, as well as outdoor tables with murals and a garden. They also serve other hot foods like pizza, pasta, and rice meals aside from artisanal breads and pastries. Would definitely come back and would definitely recommend for anyone searching for 3rd...
Read moreI love the ambience of this new find. It is in front of another restaurant which I promised to try next time when i am in the area Their pastries are good and not so expensive. I like it better than Marzon's and Premiere Hotel, which I have been using for so many years, I guess because it is new and people love trying new things It doesn't disappoint especially the service of Jojo who is always asking if you need something else and keeps refilling your glasses. This is my fourth time at this place and I think, will be a long...
