I went there last week with my big family for lunch because it was said to be good and an all-you-can-eat restaurant specialized on sea food. Variety of dishes looked like 50:50 meat and sea food to me (see video done at 12:30pm, but not all dishes were on the buffet table yet at that time) they donāt serve the same dishes on the eat-all-you-can buffet as in Ć la carte all you can eat goes with first-come-first-serve! Early reservations eat sooner. (We were #4, and our turn was ca. 15min after āopeningā of buffet) only after some time (after all tables have taken their turns) you may take a second round from the buffet, from what I understood. (Me and my family didnāt stick to that rule though. If you had to wait until all tables are done, you might end up with no refills or have no gusto or no more craving for the dishesā¦) official opening of buffet was said to be 12:30pm. My family felt that 12:30pm was already late for lunch and they were agitated that the buffet opening was even 10min later. (Video done at 12:30pm) I canāt imagine how itās for the late reservations - they might end up waiting 1h?!) there are usually refills it takes time for them to refill, so I think itās not always guaranteed when you have your turn. at some point of time (probably after all tables had their turn) they stop refilling. one extra basin in the buffet hall with soap, especially for those who like to eat with their hands no soap in the CR and CR has no functioning flush (in a place where people tend to eat with hands and use same buffet utensils! this frustrated me!) CR is not PWD-friendly they offer A LOT of (good) food one (out of 13) family member got diarrhea afterwards (Last time when my family was there (without me) someone also had diarrhea after thatā¦)
All in all, ok restaurant with nice ambiance. All-you-can-eat concept definitely needs...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOn our way home from the beautiful towns of Pagudpud and Bangui, we decided to drop by Ekhikaia Restaurant in Laoag for lunch. It was an all-you-can-eat buffet place that included seafood, lechon, and other common Filipino foods. Each one of us in our party was charged P499, higher supposedly because it was a Friday; otherwise, it would have been P399. Fine, we thought⦠maybe theyāre serving something very special that day. But much to our disappointment, we felt we were ripped off! We were there past 1:00 pm but there wasnāt a lot of dishes to choose from anymore and they never served any more freshly cooked dishes. Just because we arrived late should not have meant we deserved the leftovers! The setup of the restaurant was to accommodate a lot of people. It was so crowded⦠both with humans and flies! Worse, they were understaffed so we had to hunt a server whenever we needed something. There wasnāt many small tables for smaller groups. We had to share a long table with unknown guests. Their tables were covered with cheap, faded linoleum. The restrooms were filthy. There was not even hand soap and ironically, itās a kamayan style of dining! The dishes didnāt taste good ā their fried wontons and egg rolls were tasteless, the cheap ice cream was artificially flavored with chocolate and vanilla. Not...
