Takoyadon - SM Marilao — Restaurant in Marilao

I felt compelled to write a review. I’m very particular about presentation and menu layout, and so far, everything seemed good. The service time was adequate, with our food arriving in less than 5 minutes.

I ordered the thick noodles with beef. The noodles were rubbery, and there were only three pieces of beef. However, the broth was fairly tasty and contributed significantly to the overall flavour. We made a total of three orders. After finishing the first entrée, I felt fairly full due to the broth, so we decided to take the rest as a takeaway.

I went to the counter and asked the staff if I could have the remaining order packed to go. To my surprise, the lady replied, “Sorry, sir, you will need to pay 11 pesos.” Out of all the places I’ve dined at around the world, this is the only one where I’ve been charged a fee just to take out my own food, aside from paying for the meal itself. Appalling and disgraceful!

I asked the young lady if she thought it was fair for me to pay to take out my food, and she replied, “No.” I understand it wasn’t her fault—she was just doing her job, and I’m grateful for her...

It was our first time eating there. Was supposed to order more food but the staff/cashier was not giving a welcoming vibe. One out of their 3 tv(menu) was not set up properly giving a sense of the place not being maintained well. Ordered 2 solo takoyaki and yakisoba. It took more than 30 minutes wait time. Takoyaki was cold and served in a take out box instead of a plate (we dined in). Yakisoba was with chicken looked too different from what was in the menu and was struggling to find the chicken in it. Vegetable on the yakisoba especially the carrots was uncooked. With food like this, usually chopsticks is given or offered but they just gave spoon and fork. (Actually had to ask where it was first since it should have been kinda common sense to provide it to the customer. Hoping for a better experience next time but not looking forward to...

Takoyudon has a great atmosphere—cozy, clean, and inviting. The food is flavorful, with fresh ingredients and well-balanced flavors, especially their signature dishes. The presentation is also impressive!

As for the staff, they are warm and accommodating. They’re quick to assist and make sure customers feel welcome. A little more attentiveness during peak hours would be great, but overall, the service is friendly and efficient.

Would definitely recommend for a casual meal or a quick Japanese food...
