The decor (e.g. the fake chalkboard, the small posters of cities, the “coffee house” plate) was pretentious and tacky at the same time. Same with the water pitchers. The music was likewise—when I visited, it was bossa nova covers of overplayed pop and rock. There’s a persistent ant problem, especially by the south wall. The service was great, though. As for the food itself, it was okay. The salsa was amazing. I really liked the wagyu round steak as it was cooked perfectly, but needed seasoning. The sausage however is perfect. The veggies are a bit limited, which they acknowledged. The cabbage was slightly overcooked, and the onion undercooked. (I suggest adding creamed spinach, poached asparagus, fried okra and grilled corn as items.) I really wish I could try the coffee. The cranberry cookie was okay but lacking in flavor. The quibble I have is that the paper mats tear too easily and I would rather not have wet paper scraps in my mouth.
