Came here at 2 pm on a scorching Wednesday and it was like an oasis of calm from the heat and noise outside. When I saw the books on the shelf in the little hallway, I knew I'd found my new favorite secret hideout! Melts Cafe is a small, cozy place with darling vintage decorations. The Christmas decor makes me feel like I'm five again and in Baguio three decades ago.
The view of Jollibee and the kamatsile trees of Tropical Hut is partially obscured by telephone wires, but if you mentally filter those out, it's a nice view. Quite a good patch of blue sky too, if you're the type to cloud watch with a special someone or to look wistfully into the distance while pondering something you've just read.
If you want to come here in a group, there are only four booths (can comfortably seat 4 each) and a line of window seats. Not wheelchair accessible, because you need to climb up some stairs to get there. The stairway itself is pretty cool too -- with neon lights and things -- but maybe not the best place to bring Lolo or Lola.
Anyway, I'm appalled that the place has apparently been open since May and I've never noticed it. Please give them some love so they stay open!
