The Shoreline — Restaurant in Samal

Situated at Level 6 of Discovery Samal, The Shoreline offers Discovery Samal guests with food options from sun up to sun down and majestic views of the Davao City skyline, Davao gulf and the hotel pool that stetches into the horizon.

During our lunch, we were treated to sumptious meals of crispy lechon belly, well-cooked and fresh huge crabs, thin slices of steaks, multiple pasta options served hot by the chef on standy-by, the creamiest and sweetest desserts, and other food varieties.

For the dessert, the choco moist cake was the softest and creamiest cake that we have tasted so far that people in the dining area were recommending it to one another. The crepes was also delicious with multiple options for filling and toppings.

Aside from the food, from the restaurant door, one can have a direct access to the pool and the view, so dining was made more special but an obstructive view of both.

Food and service was very nice so an easy 5 star...

I recently dined at The Shoreline Restaurant at Discovery Samal Resort and, unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience deserving of only two stars (cause of the nice Ambiente) Despite arriving for dinner when the restaurant was not busy, the service was painfully slow. We waited an excessively long time just to place our order.

When the food finally arrived, it was mediocre at best, which was surprising given the high prices. The quality certainly did not match the cost. The most frustrating part of the evening was when I wanted to order a dessert. Out of the 5-6 desserts listed on the menu, only two were available: basic ice cream and fruit. For a restaurant and resort of this caliber, not having their desserts available is unacceptable.

Overall, while I had high expectations for The Shoreline, the slow service, mediocre food, and lack of dessert options left much to be desired. It's disappointing to pay a premium for such an...

Poolside buffer. "The Shoreline" is about as far from the shore as you can get at the resort. Food is ok. Not great, Upper-mid-level buffet. Service is sub-par. Generally included with the room and as near as I can tell the only breakfast option at this destination resort. Ran out of eggs. Coffee maker was down. Just pretend it is nice and you will enjoy the experience. Try not to pay attention to details or expect too much. Nothing really bad, except nothing is really great. Just all ok. Felt like a breakfast on a mid-level cruise...
