A Must-Read Adventure! (Disclaimer: This review reflects our experience during our visit.)
For months, we eagerly anticipated dining at this restaurant, lured in by its glowing online reviews. Our excitement was palpable, but little did we know, we were about to embark on an unforgettable adventure—one that would leave us both laughing and cringing. Here’s a colorful account of our visit:
Parking Predicament: From the moment we arrived, things took an unexpected turn. The canal was under repair, emitting an odor straight out of a horror movie. We had to park in an alternative location and navigate back through the stench, adding an unwelcome layer of excitement to our outing.
Welcoming Committee: As soon as we stepped inside, we were greeted not by a host, but by a swarm of flies. Initially unnoticed due to my sunglasses, their presence quickly became apparent when my friend whispered, “Welcome to Flyville!” Suddenly, I found myself swatting at the air like a crazed orchestra conductor.
Long Food Prep Time: Arriving at 2 PM, well after the lunch rush, we expected a prompt dining experience. Despite the restaurant being half-empty, our order of a medium-rare steak, a salad, a chicken dish, and a Mexican entrée took an excruciating 30 minutes to arrive. To our dismay, the steak was served well-done, prompting us to send it back. Another 30 minutes passed before our corrected meals finally arrived. Throughout this ordeal, we were entertained by the persistent presence of flies. One sympathetic staff member, noticing our plight, brought over a small propeller fan—a makeshift fly-repellent device reminiscent of a scene from a wet market (photo attached). The fact that such measures were readily available suggests that flies are a common occurrence, a detail that left us both surprised and disheartened.
Food Quality: a. The food, priced at 2,500 pesos for the steak, left much to be desired. What should have been a premium dish tasted more akin to a 100 peso budget meal from a roadside stall. Even the accompanying steak rice was served cold and reminiscent of leftovers from the previous day, practically shouting, "I'm the BAHAW from yesterday!" b. Our salad featured an unexpected addition—“flying raisins” (flies) that had landed on our food (photo proof attached). It was a culinary misadventure we certainly hadn’t signed up for.
Staff Shenanigans: In a surprising turn of events, a nearby staff member decided to disinfect the area with Lysol beneath the table in front of us, resulting in a rather unusual dining experience flavored with the scent of disinfectant. A humorous yet bizarre addition to our mealtime escapades.
The Bill: Initially, the bill totaled around 3,700 pesos. However, our optimism quickly turned to disbelief when the manager requested it back. Anticipating a discount due to our tumultuous dining experience, we were shocked to discover that the revised bill now amounted to a whopping 4,200 pesos. The manager cited a "forgotten" service charge as the reason for the increase. Our reaction? “SERIOUSLY? You’re charging us a 'service charge' after all this?” This unexpected addition left us feeling not only incredulous but also deeply disappointed, casting a shadow over an already challenging dining ordeal.
Our experience at this restaurant was an adventure we won't soon forget. From the rancid smell outside to the fly-infested interior, long wait times, disappointing food quality, and questionable hygiene practices, we left feeling both amused and horrified. Think first before going here—dining at this establishment might just be the worst decision you ever make, but at least it will give you a story to tell!
Kudos to the manager for his sincere apologies and efforts to rectify the situation. However, their actions only highlighted the disappointing reality of our...
Read moreI was looking for a nice place to bring our relatives from out of town to dinner. I remembered that this place had nice reviews in google. I made a reservation for 6 and was pretty excited since I was looking forward to eating here weeks ago.
We got to the restaurant, we were accommodated right away but they didnt know where to seat us even with the reservation that we made prior. It didnt take that long before they found a table for us but the area was awkward because it was cramped on 1 side. Good thing we saw a table just vacated and we asked if we could transfer, they immediately cleaned and set the table for us. Overall decent service with minor inconvenience at the start.
We ordered our food, we got served complimentary nachos just a few minutes after then come the salad and drinks. The barbie lemonade we ordered was grenadine with a little bit of lemonade. It was sweet as hell so we put water and let the ice dilute but it was still too sweet. They served the pastas(truffle pasta and salted egg shrimp pasta) which was just a little bit over warm. Just a couple of minutes after the past was served, you would see the sauce drying up. It was cream based so it was easy to see. The flavor was ok. A bit too much cream on the salted egg pasta but its most likely a preference so no big deal.
We finished the pastas and salad but we were still waiting on the salmon, tenderloin steak(med rare requested) and pork schnitzel. Its understandable that the food will take a while since its peak dinner time. The orders came and I cut a part of the steak to see its doneness. It was almost rare all throughout the steak. I requested it to be cooked more and they took it right away. The onion ring side was also not that hot. Felt like it sitting for a while. Salmon was decent but didnt try the schnitzel. Everyone was almost finished eating their meals before the steak came back(15-20 mins after was sent back). It was well done now... and also took away the cut part of the steak so it looked so small. And they even tried to hide it by searing the cut part more. I was trying hard not to lose it so I just said to take it off the bill and billed out. They apologized and took it out of the bill. We also had 2 discount cards. They gave us a discounted bill and I paid for it but they gave us change for the non discounted bill. They still charged for onion ring side upgrade for the steak that we never got to got a single bite on. Which was not a lot but it was just annoying that going through all that all we got was an apology. They fixed it eventually and we left.
The manager told us to come back and they will give us the best experience. I certainly hope so.
Decent customer service would offer proactively if they did something wrong and fix mistakes right away. Sadly that didnt happen when we dined in at Hygge.
You guys have a great google reviews and Im hoping you could give everyone the same experience...

Hyoo-ga pala ang pronunciation ng resto, not Hi-geh. Its danish word with loose meaning for "Chill lang tayo" vibes. Comfy yung ambiance, malamig yung aircon downside though is medyo masikip lang and not stroller/wheelchair friendly.
Across the street is free open parking.
They also have a bar, you may order alcoholic beverages and whatnot. I ordered iced coffee though 🤷♂️
Serving time is too long, i think it's fair because of our order and I guess they also have a tiny kitchen? Downside is that they didn't inform us about the waiting time, kaya bawal dito kumain kapag gutom na gutom ka na.
They also accepts credit card as a payment which is a huge plus.
Oh, heads up 10% service charge is excluded sa price expect additional charges of your final bill.
We ordered several items, for appetizer we ordered Nachos, mains is 2 pasta dishes, 2 steak sets and 2 coffee drinks.
Mexican Beef Nachos is a good starter. Meat serving is generous, but the sauce is more on umay side parang cheesy bechamel. But don't get me wrong this is a good quality appetizer.

Spaghetti al tartufo, pasta is al dente, sauce is superb. Its a truffle cream based dish, perfect match for your steak. But you may already taste this dish somewhere, okay siya for sharing.

Bolognese Spaghetti, strong tomato taste may over power some of your orders. You shouldn't eat this with your steak kasi everything will taste like bolognese. Good for sharing too!

USDA Angus Tenderloin, solo. This comes with 2 sides of your choice. I ordered 1. Loaded mashed potato so if you ordered pulled beef nachos they share the same sauce 2. French beans almondine, kung mahilig ka sa almonds this it a must have.
Also I didn't know na this comes with buttered veggies as well. I should've avoided the greens as sides. Overall it was okay, I dont remember if they serve this cold or sa sobrang gutom ko lang talaga di ko na napansin.
The meat is tender as expected, sauce is alright. Its very sulit. Sides alone is value for money na. Must try kapag nag crave ka sa steak.

Slow Roasted Angus Beef, pro tip though avoid this if you ordered Mexican Beef Nachos they have similar taste & texture profile.
Wifey order this with Mashed potato & cripy fries.

Oh, for the drinks! Must try yung Smore Frappe refreshingly good and instant dessert na din.
👎 for paper straw though.
We spent 2,800+ for this Lunch. We take home the pasta since busog na din from all these sides. Overall its an okay experience, I also found out na they frequently changes their menu so okay siya bisitahin from time to time.
Balik kami ulit to check the rest of the pasta...
