My wife and I stayed here for a couple of nights. Our stay was fantastic and very attentive. Ms. Reia was very communicative and helpful to accommodate to our needs. We’ll definitely come back. Here are some of our observations:
Service: the dedication of the staff to make sure we loved our stay was well noted and appreciated. They are very attentive and friendly. Big shoutout to Reia and Pedro
Food: the restaurant at the main lodge has a great variety of foods, desserts, drinks. Being able to order your breakfast the night before is a big bonus. Food was always fantastic and very filling. There’s lots of friendly food options for international travelers.
Tours: We did a Whale Shark Watching tour and had a fantastic time. Our guides and captain had great communication and were very knowledgeable. They had our meal of choice as well as many snacks, coffee and tea on board. Our guides even got to stop to see some coral reefs. Even though it took some hours of searching to find our whale sharks, we did find them and the excitement was huge! We would get on the water on their signal and watch them and swim near them. Our guides maintained ethical practices all the way through, and were very respectful of marine life, keeping our interactions very eco-friendly.
Facilities: The Resort has a very peaceful location, tailored to the needs of travelers and able to accommodate yourself or your group. The rooms were actually great and spacious, had all we needed. The lounge area is also very nice and homey. You get to see divers walk in and out and always be greeted by the staff.
Transport: they set us up with a taxi driver who took us from and to the airport, which was...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying here and it was a fantastic experience overall!
The rooms were comfortable and well-maintained. They had all the basic amenities needed for a pleasant stay. While the room was clean and cozy, there was room for improvement in terms of modernity and decor. However, considering the breathtaking views from the window and the peaceful atmosphere, it was a minor issue.
The service at the resort was exceptional! The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure a great experience. They were very knowledgeable about the local diving spots and made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable.
The location of Sogod Bay Scuba Resort is unbeatable. Situated right by the beach, it offers stunning views and immediate access to some of the best diving spots in the Philippines. It’s perfect for those looking to explore the rich marine life of Sogod Bay. The tranquility of the area adds to the charm, making it a perfect getaway for nature and scuba diving enthusiasts.
The food at the resort was absolutely delightful! There was a wide variety of dishes to choose from, catering to both local and international tastes. Each meal was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The seafood, in particular, was outstanding, reflecting the freshness of the local catch. Dining with a view of the bay made the experience even more memorable.
Overall, I highly recommend Sogod Bay Scuba Resort for its excellent service, fantastic location, delicious food, and comfortable accommodations. It’s a great spot for anyone looking to enjoy a peaceful retreat with amazing diving...
Read moreWe stayed in Peter's dive resort, but as their tour was full already, we did the whaleshark tour with Sogod bay. We left at 8:30 in the morning and after about 45min into the sea, the engine broke down. They tried to fix it, without any luck. We waited 1 hour on the sea, because we had to wait until the diver's boat came back from their dives to tow us back to the shore. There we had to swap boats and then finally at 12:00 we left the resort to get to the sites where whale sharks are spotted most often. We arrived and then the 4(!)spotters spread out. In our opinion very few spotters to cover such a wide area and having in mind the price you pay for these 3 hours of spotting, but this is their system and apparently is has worked in the last few years. Some parts we were not accompanied by the spotters tough, as they were much further away, making it nearly impossible to reach the whale shark, if they had spotten it. The team itsself did a great job, especially Dave gave a lot of comittment being in the water all the time looking for the shark!
So this criticism is mainly to the management of Sogod Bay: yes an engine can break down (questionable maintenance tough as apparently it has happened before), but afterwards when we came back more than 3 hours later than planned, there was NOT A SINGLE apology from the management or discount or just ANY kind of amends. Everyone was just being asked to pay and that was it. We all did expect a bit more from a resort, that is very dependent and used to...
