Karczma "Żabi Dwór" — Restaurant in Zakopane

This place is simply amazing. As a Belgian, I found many similarities with what I would expect at home. I ordered the 'kotlet schabowy "Żabi dwór"' with fries , mayo, and as a drink the Laszka beer. The kotlet tasted similar to what we would see at home as a 'cordon-blue' without ham. The cheese inside was plentiful and very tasty. The meat was soft and very nice. The fries are not the star of this dish but good enough to enjoy with the rest of the meal, the mayo had mustard in it, and it reminded me of 'D&L'. The beer Laszka is inspired on a Belgian blond ale. This has been one of the better beers I have tried in Poland. Very delicious.

I would give more than five stars if possible. Żabi Dwór was a lucky find along our hiking trek. The service was welcoming and friendly. The food was out of this world. So good, that I would immediately go there again, if I could eat more... 😎 There's also a quite good selection of beers, ranging from classic Polish corporate breweries to Polish Craft breweries (a word of warning: the Ciupaga Porter is very good, but comes with an unexpected ABV of 10% 😎) as well as a variety of Czech breweries. AVOID 🤢 Im in bed back at my hotel with my stomach making very unsettling noises after one of the worst experiences I’ve had in a restaurant. I was having the goulash when I found a large house fly 🪰 in it. The fly was clearly cooked so who knows how long it had been in there. The nice waitress was shocked and apologetic and told us we wouldn’t pay. So you can only imagine how shocked WE were when leaving the remaining staff asked us to pay for the starter and wine.
