The restsurant looks very nice inside, and the staff are welcoming and friendly. However, the steak I ordered was full of gristle, and pretty tough. It was not a ribeye like I ordered, not sure what cut it was, maybe a chuck eye, maybe a Denver steak. Being from Texas, I definitely know a ribeye, as well as good steaks in general. This time it was lacking on meat quality, although I know sometimes that can be hard to control. Do not serve it for 25+ euro if it is not good quality. The creamed spinach with the egg on top was nice, our whole table liked that. The reason for the low review more than the steak is that my wife got a cod fish cooked Madeira style, but couldn't eat it because it was so chewy, and a bit watery. I tried it and it chewed up to a wad of sinewy, chewy flesh that could just be chewed and chewed. Had to spit it out as it was not edible. Cod should be firm, but flaky not chewy. We let the waitress know and she just said ok. No concern, no explanation, no further checks, no offer of anything at all. Was a bit worried we could get sick. My wife was not sure, she just knew she couldn't eat it. Not sure if the chef even got the message, and no manager in sight. Finally, the chocolate ganache cake with merengue was so delicious we would go back just for that. I hope that these things get fixed as I saw other similar reviews. For the level of food and service that I could see is being aimed for here, the things that I preciously mentioned should be handeled with more care. The fact that everyone spoke English was also nice. We did our best to speak some Portuguese as well. Thank you if you've taken the time...

We came without booking thanks to a friend suggestion. It has been an amazing choice. The owner warmly welcomed us. We started with the soup of the day (tomato soup with egg). The soup was amazing, I recommend it also because we found out it is one the favourite dishes of the owner and you can feel it in the flavours. After the soup we went for the fish: salmon for me and tuna for my girlfriend. It was excellent, tasty and with very big portions. Food 10/10 Location 10/10 traditional like one of the old Portuguese restaurants. You will feel at home Considering the quality of the food, the quantity of the food and the owner's welcoming spirit I'd honestly say that it's a real deal coming here. Do not miss it if you...

The food, the owners, the atmosphere…all excellent!! We loved getting to know the lovely owners..you can tell it is a passion project of theirs to give their customers the best experience. Wonderful service. The food…wow! Every bite was delicious! The wine pairing was perfect. We encourage you to make the trip out if you are staying in Obidos…you won’t be disappointed. A love it when dining is not just a meal but an experience. The service was equivalent to a 4 or 5 star restaurant. Amazing staff. Quaint building with lots of historical charm. But the food…Oh My. Garlic shrimp appetizer was huge and tasty. The beef Wellington was tender with a wonderful sauce. We ordered a side salad and it could feed 3+ people. The chocolate cake won 1st place at the Obidos Chocolate Festival. Lots of parking behind the building. Make sure you get a reservation. It’s small and popular!
