Genuinely, two of the best dinners either of us have ever experienced.
Albufeira is obviously brimming with culinary options, far & wide. Most will naturally gravitate towards the marina & the old town, but I strongly urge anyone who finds themselves in town, to veer off the beaten path & make their way up to the northern outskirts of the city, to the enchanting Refugio do Vicente.
This is a classic Algarvan coastal-countryside haunt, complete with a tight-knit staff of locals, headed up by the impossibly charming Johnny, who sent the experience over the top with his knowledge, good nature, & humour
Anything & everything on the menu is a slam dunk. The fish of the day (Golden Bream, and the preparation was really something special…), the CLAMS (wow), the kebabs, the fish soup, were all bursting with pristine freshness, simple creativity, and home cooked love
Refugio do Vicente will transport you back into a simpler time. Immediately, you will feel right at home, as though you are at your Portuguese grandparents house. They could not have done a better job if they tried. I can only imagine how spectacular dining there during the spring & summer would be, with the patio in full swing
Many thanks to Johnny & the rest of the team for giving us two of the most memorable meals of our lives. You will for sure see us again. Love & good vibes from Johanna &...
Read moreAn amazing little family style restaurant tucked away in the side streets of Ferreiras. Service was brilliant, friendly and polite from start to finish without any fuss. Our starters were delicious being the pate and veg soup. Our mains , Tuna Steaks, a generous serving, perfectly cooked and combined with fresh local veg and a warm salsa. Steak Portuguesa was fantastic and definitely one of the best I've ever had, perfectly combines with thick cut crisps/chips and rich gravy. Menu has a good selection of traditional foods at incredibly good prices.
Recommend this place very...
