We recently had the pleasure of discovering Zip Zip, a newly taken over gem in the Algarve, and it was honestly one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in over 20 years of visiting Portugal.
Run by the lovely Marco, a local Portuguese, and his wonderful English wife, Vicky, Zip Zip offers a simple, welcoming atmosphere where the focus is firmly on fantastic food and heartfelt service. Every dish we had was bursting with flavour – some of the tastiest we’ve ever enjoyed in the region. You can truly feel the love and passion that goes into every plate.

We spent a good amount of time there waiting for our food to be served which was fish soup and grilled squid. I even joked that maybe they had gone to catch the fish as there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. The fish soup was like tinned tomato soup with fish added to it and the grilled squid was mediocre. The veggies that came with it tasted like the detergent they wash the chopping board with unfortunately. Its a shame that we won't return as it's a cute...
