Terrible Experience at Restaurante São Martinho, Guia – Disrespectful to Families.

On June 10, 2025, my family and I visited Restaurante São Martinho in Guia, and it was an utterly disappointing experience marked by disrespectful and neglectful service, particularly toward families with young children. From the moment we arrived, the staff completely ignored us. Despite the restaurant being far from busy, the waiters clearly saw us standing at the entrance but made no effort to acknowledge or greet us. We stood there for a full 10 minutes before being seated. When they finally led us to a table, it was disgustingly dirty and had a foul odor, clearly not cleaned properly. It took another 10 minutes for the staff to even attempt to clean it, and the effort was half-hearted at best. After the table was “cleaned,” we waited yet another 10 minutes for basic tableware—dishes, glasses, and cutlery—to be brought out. To top it all off, no one bothered to provide us with menus. After wasting over 30 minutes without even the chance to order, it was clear the staff had no interest in serving us. Feeling completely unwelcome, we decided to leave and take our business elsewhere.

I strongly advise families, especially those with young children, to avoid Restaurante São Martinho in Guia, Portugal.

unfortunately, an experience like I've never seen before. since we arrived, there were 10 of us, we were greeted with faces full of customers, after 10 minutes after we sat down, someone brought the menus at our insistence, because we were hungry. after another 30-40 minutes the food came and from here the real surprises began. my wife and I took the baby squid which was unclean and was biting the sand in it, other people chose the pork cutlet which was raw, the famous codfish looks like a pot of vegetables placed with a circle on the plate. all the food was extremely salty to cover the old taste. we tried to explain the various problems to them, but they pretended not to understand and that this is how they are served. on the bill another big surprise, in addition to what we ordered, they put 3 mixed salads at €8.5/piece, salads that they told us at the beginning were included in the price of the food, salt and pepper 2,4€, bread €3.5 per person and many other inflated bills. when we brought these issues to his attention, he explained that he spends money on them and they are on the table. unfortunately an unpleasant experience at a restaurant with many good opinions. avoid this...

Disfrutamos de una comida espectacular, con sabores genuinos de la cocina portuguesa:

🔥🐟 Sardinas asadas – Perfectamente cocinadas a la brasa, con ese sabor ahumado característico y un toque de aceite de oliva y sal marina. Un clásico imprescindible en Portugal. 🍽️ Bacalao a la brasa – Suave, jugoso y con ese toque dorado y crujiente en el exterior. Se deshacía en la boca y estaba acompañado de patatas y verduras, un plato lleno de tradición. 🦐🐙 Brocheta mixta de frutos del mar – Un festín de mariscos frescos: gambas, calamares, pulpo y pescado, todo perfectamente asado y con un aliño delicioso.

Este restaurante tiene un encanto especial: su decoración es rústica y acogedora, con mesas de madera y un ambiente familiar. El olor a brasas y pescado fresco a la parrilla te envuelve desde que entras. 🔥🐟

Tavagueira es una zona perfecta para descubrir la esencia del Algarve más auténtico, lejos de las zonas más concurridas. Desde aquí, puedes explorar Guia, las playas cercanas como Galé o São Rafael, e incluso hacer una ruta por las bodegas y viñedos de la región. 🍷🏝️
