Adega do Cantor — Attraction in Albufeira

Had a very wonderful tasting here. Due to corona we were the only two visitors that hour, but our host welcomed us anyway and really took her time to explain about the wine making proces, the different grapes, the different types of wine,... We had a box of wine sent to our home adress which arrived a week later in good order. During a short walk on the domain our guide pointed out a (to us) strange type of fruit that looked a bit like a rotten banana peel. Turned out to be "alfarroba", one of three main ingredients of a local speciality: Tarte de alfarroba, amêndoa e figo. We tried it later that week and absolutely loved it, so thanks for that :-). When we left she tipped us a great restaurant in the marina (porto de abrigo) aswell and since the "tarte" was such a succes, we off course went there too. Didn't regret...

Our tour of Cliff Richard's vineyard/ winery/shop started at 2:30. The tour guide gave a very interesting and detailed explanation how grapes are grown, incl. wine processing techniques. We were led around the vineyard and shown the vines. They use a special technic of growing the grapes 1m above the ground. This exposes them better to the sun. (and is more back friendly during the harvest-season). After passing the processing machinery, the tour continues into the wine cellars, where at 3:10 the wine tasting took place (2 white, 1 rosé, 1 red "Vida Nova= New Life" wine), and finished at 4:00. Afterwards, you exit into the shop where you can purchase the wines (with excellent discounts), T-Shirts, fridge magnets, bottle openers, key chains, etc. So the tour lasts 1:30 hours, incl. the shop visit...

Monica, was amazing. Such a good tour of cool wine cellar, where we tried amazing wines , vineyard was very hot luckily there was a shade in the drying circle and seats, and then the factory we saw a worker put labels in bottles, so cool. I learned a lot about wine and corks. This was Deffo my fave tour in the ten days I'm here in albuferia . Only 20 euro each and I learned so much. Monica is very passionate. Thanks. Obrigada!
