Café Restaurante Casa Silva — Restaurant in Amarante

We came here very late without a reservation for a group of 18 people. We arrived around 15:00 for lunch so this might have impacted the food flavor 😅

I had goatling, the meat was delicious, really tasty, but the potatoes were ok and the rice was not good.

We also had some codfish cakes that were not great.

I also tried the octopus rice, that had very few octopus pieces, not awesome also.

The food was in general medium, a 3. But the service was quite nice considering the hour we arrived with no reservation etc.

It was quite expensive but has this was a big group with big drinkers I can’t really understand if it was fair price. But 30€ was a lot per person.

I called at 1:40 to ask if they were serving lunch meals and ask about the specials. They were still serving and the choices seemed fine. We ordered the specials on the menu. When we got the bill, the price didn’t reflect the normal daily meal price. Which is 8-10 euros, sometimes with wine and coffee included. The daily meals are mondays-Fridays for lunch. I asked the owner if they serve the daily midday meal and he said yes. To that I asked if what we ate was a daily meal. He said it wasn’t because the meals are during weekdays only, I pointed out that it’s Friday lunch. He said that it was close to the weekend and therefore I didn’t get the daily special price. Passamos pela casa Silva numa viagem em família. Já tínhamos tido boas experiências neste restaurante mas esta foi má. Éramos 6 adultos e 2 crianças. Não nos foi apresentada carta com pratos e preços, apenas nos foi referenciado os pratos existentes. Pedimos, polvo dose 22€; cabrito dose 19€ e vitela dose 12€; O cabrito foi mal servido (parecia dose de diária) a vitela estava seca e sem sabor (dose de diária.tb). Quando pedimos a conta, pareceu-nos caro para o que tínhamos comido. Pedimos fatura e na mesma veio referenciado 13 almoços. Nada descriminado, ao que questionamos doses e valores. A resposta não.foi convincente. Sentimos que fomos enganados na qualidade, quantidade e preço. Não voltamos a repetir, já que existem boas alternativas...
