Tarouca Gastrobar is one of those places that surprises you with how well it combines great food, attentive service, and a cozy, stylish atmosphere. Located in Ansião, this restaurant and bar has quickly become a favorite, and after eating here it is very easy to see why.

The atmosphere is one of the first things you notice. The inside is modern yet warm, with wood and light tones creating a comfortable and inviting setting. It’s the kind of place that adapts effortlessly whether you’re coming with friends, on a date, or even just looking for a good meal by yourself.

You’ll find everything from inventive starters to filling main dishes, but one of the absolute highlights has to be the burgers. I ordered one of their signature burgers and it was outstanding. Served on a rustic plate, it came with thick-cut golden fries, crispy on the outside and soft inside — the kind of fries you can’t stop picking at even when you’re full.

The burger itself was a real pleasure. The bun was fresh and lightly toasted, the patty cooked just right, and the generous layer of melted cheese created the perfect base for the toppings. What another great bar come restaurant Tapas bistro in this central Portugal town, Ansião! The staff were very friendly, welcoming, attentive and helpful with my selection of my lunch. I had the Classic Beef (Angus) burger and chips in a Portuguese special bun typical of the Madeira region...wow! My burger is up there with the very best I've ever eaten! Thank you chefs... The burger was delicious, freshly cooked and prepared on the grill and along with the lovely Portuguese chips which I'll miss when I leave Portugal, my lunch was just outstandingly good and such good value too. To drink I opted for the Portuguese "Bohemian Stout" in a proper British pint glass as welI and this was one perfect pint which topped my whole experience of this Tapas Bistro Bar way up there or a full 10/10 score...
