O Cantinho da Manuela — Restaurant in Armamar

Most humble dining experience we had in Portugal! Despite the language barrier, the family who runs this restaurant made us feel at home right away with the warmest smile. They even gave us a peak in their kitchen and of their grill plate and meats. We ordered the lamb chops en pork. The lamb meat was one of the best we’ve ever had; tender and fresh. Served with savoury brothy rice with beans. Meats and cheese as starters and the house special as dessert were wonderful as well, with a port wine. Red house wine (4,50 for a bottle) was delicious! Heaving read the previous reviews, we were well aware of the language barrier. My wife and I still decided to give it a try and went there with our 15 month old daughter. Glad we did! We used Google Translate to understand the menu and went for the “Cabritinho na Brasa”. It was delicious! They do also offer a wide variety of regional wines - very tasty! Do not be discouraged by the language barrier. The staff was very kind and polite. Being there with a small child was no issue - they did even joke around with her. We highly recommend this place....

Lovely local restaurant with traditional dishes - we were the only tourists/non-locals and had to rely on google translate for some of our interactions but the owners could not have been more lovely and happy to try to bridge the language gap we both had. To say the portions are generous would be an understatement.

Yummy food with warm/genuine service despite not being able to officially communicate in the same language.
