The Worst Dining Experience in Madeira – Avoid at All Costs

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was truly the worst restaurant experience I’ve had in all of Madeira. I ordered what was supposed to be a grilled whole chicken, but what arrived was something else entirely – a strange square piece of chicken, completely burnt, flavorless, and lacking any decent seasoning.

The side dishes didn’t fare any better. The baked potatoes were undercooked, and the fried ones were overburnt to the point of being inedible. The overall food quality was shockingly poor.

To make things worse, the atmosphere was just as unpleasant. The staff seemed visibly unhappy and uninterested, which made us feel very unwelcome. On top of it all, the place was swarming with flies – completely unacceptable for a dining establishment.

As a final touch, when it came time to pay, they tried to charge us for a large portion of boiled potatoes, even though we had clearly ordered the small size. They did correct it after we pointed it out, but it just added to the overall feeling of disorganization and carelessness.

Unfortunately, nothing about this visit was pleasant. I strongly recommend avoiding this restaurant. There are many great places to eat in Madeira – this is not...

One of the best, if not the best place to have espetada in Madeira. Always fresh and prime quality meat, very tender and delicious, always cooked to perfection. The side dishes, home made french fries, milho frito, bolo do caco and the salad are always fresh and cooked perfectly by madeirean cuisine highest standards. Prices are also very honest, and cheap if we consider all the other espetada restaurants in Câmara de Lobos and the staff is very nice. Also the pregos especiais (beef sandwich) in bolo do caco with salad, cheese, ham and fried egg are superb and not expensive at all. If you are looking for a snack or a light meal, it's good...

The view from the restaurant is just amazing. The staff are nice and friendly. The food quality was OK but the meat could have been a bit more fresh. The Espetada with bone had too much bone and we didn't get much meat from it and the total number of meat cubes they served for us was lower than tables that came a bit later! They said they would weigh the meat and you get the same weight as others but I could tell the difference between 5-6 pieces skewers and 7-8 ones. So a bit disappointed there. If you don't want to pay the price for bone's weight, go for the Espetada...
