Restaurante Quinta das Tapas — Restaurant in Cabeceiras de Basto

As suggested by the waitress, I chose the off menu daily dish which was vitela com batatas muros ( calf and punched potatoes ) and asked for vegetables instead of salad. The menu had tapas and fried cod and so on. Very reasonably priced wine. I chose the most expensive red Quinta da Carregosa from the Douro 2017, at 7.50 EUR bottle. For dessert I chose the cheesecake ( chocolate mouse was all gone ). All the desserts are made in house. My review. Everything was delicious and good portions. The salad was simple and very fresh, delicious tomatoes. The main dish was probably for two people ( they probably don't normally serve one person, I couldn't eat it all ). The calf was full of flavour and good quality that I would expect at this reasonable price, decorated with fresh rosemary and orange. Perfect potatoes. Nice spinach. The Douro wine had a fruity bouquet and was intense and persistent exactly as described on the label. Very enjoyable. I liked the atmosphere. By 2100h the restaurant was nearly full, with more customers arriving. There were children playing and laughing. The staff were busy, but happy and attentive, and they easily accommodated variations to the menu as required. Very good coffee. The service was fast, but the price was way higher than comparable Portuguese restaurants. We ordered tapas and water, and got 7 small dishes, of which 3 were good and the rest fairly average/basic—way too much food for 2 people, and not anything elaborate. The bill was €58! No somos de poner reseñas pero nos fastidió mucho lo que nos hicieron, fuimos a cenar por lo que habíamos leído en las reseñas , las buenas , muy amables y enrollados nos pusieron unas tapas jamón malo , tentáculo de poton en vinagreta ( igual lo quieren colar como pulpo) y empanadillas de bacalao malas y acetosas , luego una tabla de carne estaba rica pollo, cerdo y ternera, poca , no nos trajeron carta , a otros que llegaron en un descapotable si le dieron carta , en definitiva 85 eurazos por una comida que valía la mitad como mucho , no nos dejaron pagar con tarjeta nos dijeron que su máquina no valía para tarjetas de estrangeros ,tarjeta de ING , en definitiva nos estafaron por ser de fuera , cosa que no pasa casi nunca en portugal , país encantador , recomendacion pedir carta o precio de las cosas , al propietario no nos verá nunca más el pelo y no lo recomendaremos a nadie , todo...
