My recent visit to Quatro Quintas was an absolute culinary delight! From the moment I walked through the door, I was greeted by the lovely waitress, Sonia and the very friendly owners, who made me and my family feel right at home. The homemade "Pão com Recheio" were a perfect start to the meal, with their succulent and flavorful taste leaving me wanting more. The traditional Madeira Espetada made with tender caw meat or chicken (I choose both) was a true standout dish. The combination of flavours and seasoning was spot on, and don't even get me started on the milho frito and seasonal vegetables ordered as I side – they were the perfect combination. The Duck Main course it's a MUST-TRY. To top it all off, the Rios do Patos red wine was the cherry on top of a perfect meal. The ambience of the restaurant itself was beautiful, adding to the overall wonderful dining experience. If you find yourself in Madeira, Quatro Quintas is a must-visit. If you are a local and haven't been yet, you are missing out on a chance to make your day or holiday truly marvellous. I highly recommend Quatro Quintas for an unforgettable dining experience. Thank you, Sonia, and the entire team at Quatro Quintas, for a...
Read moreWith great regret I have to give it a 1. Starting from the beginning, we waited a very long time for someone to come and give us the menu. In the English translation there are no drinks included, you only get a wine list. If you want to order another drink, you don't know what they offer and what price they are. You can't ask about it because the waitress doesn't speak English. However, as a tourist, I get it because I should know the language. The worst thing of all was the dish itself. It was the worst espetada I've ever eaten because it was... raw. I understand that at some points the meat may be rarer, but mine was simply raw and impossible to eat. My partner also ordered this dish and it was also raw. No one asked if we liked our dishes. There weren't many people in the restaurant, so I don't understand such carelessness I'm shocked that such a good looking restaurant could serve something like this.
In response to the restaurant's answer - it is not possible that the order was for raw meat, because no one asked us about the doneness level. We didn't eat everything either, we ate fries and veggies. We left a lot of meat, so it's a lie. it's very...
Read moreParty of 9 people, the waiter that took our drinks order was very friendly but on the whole the service was very poor. We ordered bolo do caco for starters and was told 15 minutes later that they had run out !! 2 people only received their main course after going to the rception to find out where their meals were, everyone else had finished their main course before the 2 missing meals arrived. No one came to ask if everything was good until we had all finished our meals, we told the waiter that the T-bone steak was tough and cold, 2 people had duck which was over cooked and dry and a side order of vegetables never arrived. We were not offered sweets or coffee. It was very disappointing as it was a birthday celebration and as the restaurant had only just opened we were all looking forward to a good meal. We hope that things will change as if not I fear they will soon go out...
