Restaurante & Churrasqueira O Pombo — Restaurant in Coimbra

It is a good sign when people are queuing outside the restaurant for their takeaway lunches ( see photo ). The restaurant is cool and bright and only has 8 tables inside and is one of the smallest restaurants I've reviewed. It's a friendly family run business, with grandparents cooking, parents waiting on you, and kids helping out here and there. The food is delicious. There are about 5 daily main dishes to choose from. I recommend the popular grilled chicken. Regarding dessert. I've been here twice now and for dessert it seems the only option is fruit salad, however you won't be disappointed because with cherries, strawberries, grapes, etc it's great and much healthier than sweets. Parking is on the street...

It's a place slightly hidden away from the city, but it's honestly like a little gem to discover, much due to the food, which is absolutely amazing.

The restaurant feels slightly crammed at lunch time because the size of the room is a bit small to the amount of tables they have in place - or so my slightly claustrophobic brain tells me - but you can get up and walk around freely so that's probably mostly a me issue.

Alas, the spotlight really must go to the food. I've been here 3 times now, and it's always fantastic and quite quick to serve....
