Crato is a tiny town surrounded by farmlands. We wanted to check out what the locals ate so we checked out the town's only restaurant catering to locals. Divided into 2 sections; Bar in front and rstaurant in back. The locals, mostly white haired seniors drinking local wine (1 euro/25 ml), hang out in poorly lit bar with at most 4 tables watching cable TV. At 7pm, the restaurant hasnt started yet...and we waited...and asked about it; then they started. (Do ask, otherwise theyll just wait) The restaurant section is humble country styled setting. The service is friendly. The Food: the entrada olives was nice and tasty. The cheese platter was uninteresting. For the mains, we had the grilled bacalao with small potatoes. It was a huge piece of cod maybe 300 grams. It had a very pungent odor to the fish, the charred spots was very bitter. I wouldnt recommend it. The other was pork ribs with a side of mashed bread and meat mixed. The ribs was great. But i cant shake off the idea that the mashed bread was how they got rid of day old stale bread. I dont think its worth 12 euros.

Óptima qualidade preço e simpatia do dono. Rapidez no atendimento e bom ambiente. Sobremesas divinais.

This place is not in Crato, it is in Flor da Rosa, a village about 4km from Crato. The restaurant and bar is very friendly, not much English is spoken, but that didn’t detract at all from the positive experience. We were a party of four, were seated very quickly and able to order very easily. The food was hearty and tasty. We had pork ribs, lamb chops, salmon and swordfish. All of the were good. The desserts were good, cinnamon tart and pineapple mousse were also good for desserts. The wine was from Crato, and was fine. We had another bottle sat outside. The staff were very friendly, as were the locals. Loved it and would...
