O Belo Sol — Restaurant in Faro

Not a great place for tourists. Very good for locals!

It seems a lot of locals get their meal here which is fair enough, but as tourists (and 3 girls) we weren’t welcomed at all. There was an older women who waited on us and she was ever so rude and then a younger women who was lovely!

First off we only wanted a snack so ordered some chips and she was super judgemental and made some face about us not wanting a proper meal. They weren’t very nice about anything and we were shocked how rude they were when we did nothing wrong. The food does look good but we decided after our chips to go somewhere else as we felt uncomfortable.

Then when it came to the bill, they charged us €30 more then what we had… the lady at the till was again very rude and didn’t care to change this. My friends were happy to pay just to leave but I put my foot down as students we didn’t have that money to waste. So I spoke to the younger waitress who was lovely and fixed this for us… she was lovely!

Other then her service, the older women and the place itself was extremely rude. I’d avoid if you are a tourist and find somewhere better

I loved this place. ❤ It is very authentic with homemade cuisine. Food and sangria are really tasty. 😋 Locals go there for food and drinks and you can enjoy an atmosphere of friendly buzzing of local inhabitants. Waitresses were not very fluent in English, but they tried really hard to explain you everything, so that you would remain satisfied! Normally, I don't order dessert, but here I couldn't help but order, and wasn't disappointed at all! I regard it as an act of the utmost impoliteness if rowdy, increasingly drunk guests destroy the mood, atmosphere and also the willingness of the staff to serve you with a friendly attitude during the entire visit to the restaurant. Even the reasonably good food can't make up for that, although here too it has to be said that half of the dishes on the menu were not available.
