I come from Taiwan, a Formosa with beautiful tea gardens and good tea everywhere. When I came to Madeira one month ago, I liked to visit the tea houses here. Recently, because I am about to move from Funchal to Camacha, I pinned this tea house on Google map as a must-visit place. Unexpectedly, I happened to pass by this tea house when I was hiking Levada with a total length of 17 kilometers walk today. When I decided to walk in, I felt like Alice in Wonderland. I thought it was closed, but a cute dog gave me a look and said: We are open today, come on in you won't regret! So I walked in with a little hesitation because I seemed to be the only customer during teatime this afternoon and found myself alone in a wooden house surrounded by a gorgeous garden. The lemon drizzle cake was delicious. And the cappuccino is the best coffee I have ever had in Madeira, regardless of the concentration, aroma, and...

It is almost a pilgrimage. Each year, when we come to Funchal, we catch the bus up to Monte and walk along to Romeiros then the Levada dos Tornos from Romeiros to the Jasmine Tea House. Then downhill to catch a bus back. The food is excellent, and the range of teas is very good. Service very friendly, and just in case out host forgets to have it on display, he makes excellent tablet which one can purchase -ask about it. The ambience is excellent. So today, one of us had the meat platter, and the other had the carrot and orange soup with a tuna/cheese melt (and home made relish to die for). Who can visit without trying the cake. Warm gluten free lemon drizzle cake for one, warm apple cake for the other, oh, and extra pots of tea!! Beware, not open on a Monday, but easily accessible by taxi, by bus from Funchal or like us by a pleasant levada walk. Close up of the meat platter included as it was so...

Jasmin tea house is an excellent and tranquil refreshment haven on the Levada dos Tornos walk. Lovely to see and choose from this wide ranging menu of 'real' loose leaf teas, infusions and coffees offered, with freshly baked scones, cakes and other fare on offer. Nick and his wife made us very welcome and also went beyond their customer service duty to help us with a minor emergency we had encountered. Their natural calmness and kindness helped us resolve the issue quickly. Lovely to meet such genuine, hospitable people who went above and beyond to help us ! Thank you once more. We hope to hope to...

Immer gerne wieder.
