Canal Caveira — Restaurant in Grândola

Many years ago, before the highway, everyone stopped at canal caveira to eat. Therefore, this is a must go if you are passing by. You can expect a typical restaurant with a tavern like atmosphere. This is outstanding traditional Portuguese cuisine. Start with bread, butter, olives and cheese. Then I recommend the Portuguese cozido (in the picture), which might not look like what you were expecting but it sure tastes great. The staff seemed very nice and friendly but I went to eat a bifana and it was much to be desired. Did not have any sauce, the bread was absolutely normal as in not toasted and the beef was just made on a pan. So I don't recommend bifanas here.
