We found this absolute gem of a restaurant on trip advisor and went to extreme lengths to get from Porto to Guimaraes to find the place (train strike followed by a harried dash to the bus station to catch a bus to Guimaraes). The owner, Renato, was so passionate about the food/menu and was so welcoming and friendly. He treated us, not like tourists, but like a local or as friends. He explained what foods he would recommend and how everything was prepared. We had the brie with pumpkin jam starter, followed by the 14 hour slow cooked veal cheek with chunky potato wedges and vegetables. Everything was sublime and the vinho verde complemented the food perfectly. I would, without hesitation, recommend this extraordinary restaurant

Both the salad and the cod on bread were very tasty and the charming waiter (owner?) was happy to explain how each dish we were interested in would be prepared. The place is very clean and well maintained, i found the chairs a bit uncomfortable but my wife didn't. The place was empty which subtracted a bit from the atmosphere and was not prepared to provide tap water and the bottled water worked out the same price as the beer.

We were passing by and appreciated the ‘food is love’ sign and were serviced by the owner. Quite a man (doing all serving by himself)! You have to wait a bit for the good food, but with a friendly word and a joke from the owner, you don’t mind… as the food is good! Fairly priced as well! Small tip to the team, please put some salt and black pepper on the table. Overall: go and have some food at this place.

Absolutely fantastic meal and entertainment in this gem of a restaurant. Your husband & wife hosts have the perfect blend - she is an excellent chef and he is a funny and friendly Maitre De. The menu is inventive - I had steak with pineapple and peppercorn sauce which was a revelation; as was the pumpkin jam baked Brie starter. They just worked! My brother had the pork on a hot stone - it was succulent and moreish, if messy (bibs are required). The recommended wine was also superb. If you're looking for a relaxed, quirky, quality meal in a cosy and welcoming environment, this is the place to come. Unpretentious good food. Highly recommended. If I lived here this would be my new...
