Petiscos & companhia — Restaurant in Idanha-a-Nova

This village has only two restaurants we know of but fortunately this one (walk down the steps to the basement) is very good if you want a simple, tasty, hearty and cheap meal. Amazing food! We shared a plate of pineapple pork and a plate of bacalhau between 4 of us, plus chips and salad. The pork was possibly the nicest dish I've eaten in Portugal. The bacalhau cooked to perfection. Luis's chips are legendary. I am vegetarian and at times it is difficult to get anything other than lettuce, rice and if I'm lucky chips. If you give enough notice (over 24 hours) Luis and his lovely wife Theresa will do up a vegetarian option. My favourite is the Mushroom Wellington, it is very morish!!
