Ca Lá Mora is one of those spots that you keep coming back to—and trust me, I do! It's like my little secret hideaway in Barão de São João, this quirky, picturesque village. The pizza and pasta are always on point, but the real game-changer is the seafood pasta. It’s not even on the regular menu—you have to reserve it because Omar (the owner, who’s honestly one of the nicest people ever) goes out in the morning to buy fresh ingredients just for you. How cool is that?
The vibe here is always warm and welcoming. Pamela and Jorge, the waitstaff, are always buzzing around with big smiles, making sure you’re taken care of. It’s like they’ve got a sixth sense for when you need a refill or a recommendation. And Omar? He’s always making sure things run smoothly while somehow making you feel like you’re eating at a friend’s place.
And then there’s the live music on Saturdays (sometimes Fridays too if you’re lucky). It really brings the place to life! You’re sitting there with a glass of wine, enjoying some amazing food, and suddenly there’s this chill, live soundtrack to your night. Perfect way to spend an evening, right?
I love the mix of great food, good music, and the charm of this little village. Honestly, if you find yourself anywhere near Barão de São João, pop in—you won’t regret it!
Final tip: I always order the focaccia and ask for anchovies as an extra—they’ll add it for you, and it takes things to the next level....
Read moreDuring my recent stay near Lagos, I stumbled upon a true vegan paradise: Ca La Mora. Tucked away in the charming village of Barão de São João, this restaurant is a must-visit for anyone in the area.
The moment you step through the door, you're greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The decor is tasteful, creating a cosy environment perfect for enjoying a meal. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, adding to the overall delightful experience. As a vegan, I'm always on the lookout for restaurants that offer more than just a token salad, and Ca La Mora did not disappoint. I had the pleasure of trying several dishes during my visits, and each one was a culinary masterpiece. The mushroom escalope, in particular, were a standout – bursting with flavour and cooked to perfection.
What sets Ca La Mora apart is their dedication to providing delicious vegan options without compromising on taste or quality. It's clear that the chefs here are passionate about creating dishes that celebrate the beauty of plant-based ingredients.
Whether you're vegan or simply looking for a fantastic dining experience near Lagos, I highly recommend paying a visit to Ca La Mora. Trust me, you won't be...
Read moreWhen you finish your daily hike, in a small town like this, you don't think about anything else but finding a place to sleep and eat anything. You certainly won't think of an Italian restaurant. But here we found one. The food was exceptionally good, both starter, main course and dessert. the service was nice and unobtrusive. The place is well arranged, you can see the taste of the owners. Hidden advantage of this place, hidden behind the kitchen door (which he gladly leaves) is the Chef. The food speaks for itself, but his openness, contact with the client is something special. (He cured my weakness after hiking in the sun not only with food but with a glass of grappa he offered me)
If you like italian temperament and food, you will love this place. I would definitely love to come back...
