BEST STEAK IN LAGOS! From the moment we arrived, nothing was too much trouble for the lovely staff at Empire Steakhouse. And oh my, the steak was utterly amazing! In fact, it was so good, that we ate here twice in a week! The Black Angus sirloin steak just melts in your mouth! And the hand cut chips were just like my Mum used to make! We added some vegetables, Algarvian salad and a mushroom / peppercorn sauce. Utterly delicious. Add a glass, or bottle of the house red and you’ll be in heaven! Do also try the Iberian ham as a starter (it melts in your mouth too) and try to leave space for the Chef’s special panna cotta - it’s served on a delicious fruit geleé with mixed berries on top - yum yum! The staff were just delightful and spoke perfect English, as well as patiently helping us with our attempts to improve our Portuguese too. We only spotted this place on a drive out to Sagres, and were so happy we decided to go back and try it. The entrance is a little fiddly; you have to enter off the roundabout to Almadena before you see the Empire Steakhouse as it’s on a parallel road to the N125, but even if you miss it the first time, it’s easy to go around the next roundabout and double back. Do make the effort to visit. You seriously won’t regret it and I’ll bet you’ll be back again before you know it too!

Dining at Empire Steakhouse in Almadena has been nothing short of a fantastic experience. From the moment you arrive, it’s clear that the owner’s passion for both food and wine elevates the entire dining experience. Not only is he knowledgeable, but he goes out of his way to ensure every request is accommodated wherever possible, adding a personal touch to the meal. If you’re craving lobster, be sure to order it 24 hours in advance. We’ve had the pleasure of dining here twice, and on both occasions, the quality of the food was exceptional. The starters and main courses were prepared to perfection, showcasing the care and expertise that goes into every dish. One standout recommendation is the 24-month matured Presunto. It melts in your mouth and offers a depth of flavor that’s truly unforgettable. Paired with a thoughtfully selected local red wine, it made for a perfect culinary match. Although we couldn’t manage dessert due to our full stomachs, the entire meal was an absolute delight.

Could not fault this place at all!!! Food was delicious, service was impeccable, we had a thoroughly great night. The steak was amazing, we had the 1kg Tomahawk and it was melt in your mouth delicious. The sides were perfect, and we even managed to fit in a starter and pudding!! For starter we had the meatballs to share which were so tasty and the quails eggs were lovely, it was a bit like having mini deconstructed scotch eggs, even the bread that came along side was amazing. For pudding we had Banoffee Pie!! You can never find Banoffee pie and this was a particularly good one… we also had a cheeky Baileys moose which was particularly yummy. We had a nice long chat with the owner and he had a real fire and passion which just makes a business like this go from good to great. If you are in the area you would be a fool to miss out on this place!

What a wonderful experience eating in the Empire Steakhouse was.

The steak, I had Aberdeen Angus, was the best steak I have eaten in any country in the last 15 years. Soft and tender, cooked to perfection and tasted delicious.

The menu is expensive, but in a country where fine steak is rarely found, it's worth paying extra to eat such fantastic meat.

Critique: I actually did not go for the steak, I went for the Seafood of which there were several choices on the menu. Imagine my unhappiness therefore, to be told they had no seafood, only langoustine, because they had sold it all the night before.

Not good enough!! I could have gone and bought seafood on Friday morning ..... so they could certainly have done the same.

To run out of one thing is bad management but to run out of everything is inexcusable.

So, fantastic steak, but a lack of management.

I will certainly go back to eat there again and hopefully they will be able to offer me what is on their menu.

A great addition to our local...
