Quinta das Alagoas — Hotel in Lagos

We can’t believe we happened upon Quinta das Alagoas just 4 hours before our arrival in Lagos and that they had a vacancy. Barbara was incredibly accommodating and was able to fix us with a room with one easy phone call. We spent 2 days in Casa Garibaldi, which had 2 very comfortable twin beds pushed together to form a king, a kitchenette was at our disposable, and a very clean bathroom. The suite was incredibly cozy and stocked with everything we needed, including air conditioning unit and wifi router.||||Quinta das Alagoas is perfectly situated for exploring the west coast of Algarve. Several points of interest between Lagos and Sagres, including beaches, are a short drive away. ||||As charming as the suite and the grounds were (Quinta das Alagoas is set on rolling fields in a 14th century building which has been updated with care to meet modern needs, while preserving it’s character), the hosts really set this place apart. Barbara and Fernando were incredibly friendly and welcoming, they showed us to our room, gave us a tour of the premises and gardens, fed us local fig treats (handmade by Barbara), and offered recommendations for places to eat and things to do. We spent a week at the Quinta Das Alagoas and had a fantastic time. Barbara and Fernando are great hosts. The apartment was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The setting is idyllic and fragrant, the building is a charming 14/15th century farm converted into several self contained apartments. Surrounded by fields and mountains you really can enjoy the peaceful nature all around . And if you are lucky you may get the experience of an astronomy presentation or an evening of music organised by the hosts. We had the privilege to listen to medieval musicians live. This holiday retreat also boasts an organic farm and irrigation system. A 5 min drive from the beach, restaurants and other amenities this is a real holiday gem. Perfect for families, and couples of all ages who want a tranquil holiday off the beaten track. But close enough to the city of Lagos for further attractions including a safari type zoo where monkeys live in islands and pelicans wander around freely, shopping centres, local shops and restaurants with great, fresh fish. We spent a 4 days weekend at Quinta das Alagoas and we loved it!!! The place is an ancient little fortress that Bárbara and Fernando almost rebuilt but keeping all the history and life that the buiding once experienced. We stayed at Bezerrinhos a lovelly 3pax accomodation also adapted to disable people. The room is on a wooden first floor and I loved it! You'll have all the modern facilities (AC, wi-fi, small kitchen) in a very tipically decorated room. Sometimes, the host couple also organize musical events in the farm.
