My wife and I have been experiencing Portugal and wanted to try something different. The reviews looked promising and so we came for dinner. The restaurant is located on a quiet street and features a lovely patio. We had a bit too much sun today and so we ate inside. We were delighted to find dishes that we weren't familiar with. We asked for suggestions and we got them. We ended up with a meal that was diverse, flavourful and also beautifully prepared.
Spice level is a personal thing and I appreciated that we were given a sample of what medium would taste like. Usually medium is a too bland. Not here. Medium tasted like it was comfortable to eat with a nice lingering heat. Just the way we like it. Medium it is!
We started with Chicken Tikka Puri. Accompanied by sauces to enhance the dish if we desired. When I had my first taste, I was amazed. It was so flavourful. I knew we were in for a special meal.
Next the Honey Prawns, cooked to perfection with a tasty glaze that was right on point with the heat level we asked for.
This was the appetizer round. Now, the meal.
Lamb Rara - This is a roasted lamb curry. Very tender.
King Prawn Shashlik, this was also amazing with the sauce on the side.
Veg Briyani (Hyderabad Style) - This was the most beautiful briyani dish I have seen. Mixed with veggies.
Garlic Naan - Yum, of course. Pro tip we learned, but a small amount of mint sauce on the naan and dip into the lamb dish. Awesomeness will hit your palette.
Everyone who looked after us was so hospitable. We are sad this restaurant is not in our city. Thanks for a...
Read moreWent here because the reviews were really good. To start the reviews are not wrong, the owner speaks well english, is very friendly and really does her best. However we also did feel pressure. To start we had ordered a mixed platter which we didn't find very good. Chicken was a bit dry and the vegetarian thing, indian cheese, didn't had flavour. Not what you would expect from a 12€ dish. We did the taste test for our mains as mentioned in other reviews and after we wanted to order what we had seen. For my boyfriend she advised something else as what he initianately wanted to order would be to spicy and that was all good and indeed a good move. For me the spice was oke but not what I wanted for diner that day so I asked for the Butterchicken for that reason. She then said I should get something else because that would be more fitted. What came was tasty also in combination with the coconut rice, but not what I asked for. After talking to the owner she changed it back to butter chicken (mild) which was also good but then in combination with the coconut rice too sweet. All together not the experience we had hoped for. We had been in an indian restaurant in Lisbon as well which was better and...
Read moreWhen my wife told me she'd found an Indian restaurant with great reviews in Espiche—a tiny village next to our campsite—I’ll admit, my expectations were… modest. Let’s just say I wasn’t exactly bracing for culinary greatness.
I could not have been more wrong.
Sunita’s turned out to be one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in years. As someone who rarely gets to enjoy Indian food in the Netherlands—and whose curry house memories are mostly stuck in a time warp from the early 2000s in the UK—the extensive menu felt a little overwhelming at first.
Thankfully, Sunita herself came to the rescue. She offered thoughtful, tailored recommendations based on our tastes, and what followed was nothing short of exceptional. Every dish was freshly prepared, spiced to our preference, and absolutely bursting with flavour. You could tell real care went into every plate.
The food was phenomenal, but the service elevated the whole experience even further—warm, attentive, and effortless from start to finish.
Great evening. Great food. Great people. I honestly can’t recommend Sunita’s highly...
