There are a lot of “beach” restaurants along Portugal’s Algarve coast. However … down a long dirt road leading to Trafal Beach is for sure one of the best … Temperus Restaurant. As you drive down the road to the restaurant, you start to feel like you are a local on your way to a restaurant that no tourists have discovered. The family who has owned Temperus for generations greets you like they have always known you. In fact many of the people that you will dine with have been coming for the 30+ years it has been open … quite a tribute to any restaurant. Temperus only serves lunch. It is the place to go with family and friends and have a 3 hour lunch. You will not be rushed and you will be with many others doing the same thing … especially on the weekend. Nobody does “sea to table” food like Temperus. There are many local, family recipes on the menu. However, there is something special about having a fresh caught fish presented to your table, having it simply grilled with olive oil and salt and served to you for lunch. We have only lived in the Algarve for a year but going to Temperus not only feeds our appetite … it also feeds our souls. There are no online reservations. You call and talk to a member of the family to come join them. Temperus is near Vale do Lobo but is an experience that is far away from the busy world. Treat yourselves if you are a local or planning to visit the area. Either way you will want to be a part of the...
Read morewe tried twice to enjoy the services of this establishment (the second time mainly because the next coffee or dink is a 15 minutes walk away)
the style of the restaurant is a wanna-be "fancy" beach bar, accordingly prices are quite exaggerated.
that being not enough, the staff is the unfriendliest by far, that i have encountered on my now 2 weeks trip around algarve. my opinion is not based on one specific experience with one waiter/ess, but on a general account of all interactions with the staff on my two visits. from being ignored completely, to being sent away in a very unfriendly tone because the terrace was about to open in 10 minutes more... this arrogancy and unfriendliness seems to be integral part of the style of the place.
plus: the water melon juice is quite tasty :) and the location is best... if run by a different management could be a...

They've made me pay 5€ for what you see in the pic. Cold, chewy, and tasteless.
I wanted to have lunch there but couldn't cause of my dog, so they offered me to sit down 3 metres away from the main terrace, just 3m but that tiny distance makes you different all of a sudden and you are forced to order from a different menu with just sandwiches.
Why? Don't know, but it makes you feel less of a client as well as uncomfortable. If I can't sit down at the main terrace cause of the dog , fine with me but excluding us from the menu is weird and insulting,
Anyway, we had nowhere else to go (I think that's why they have clients) so we surrendered and ordered 4 sandwiches. We waited 15 min to be served and voilá! With the size of a palm of a hand this is probably the most ridiculously overpriced sandwich in Portugal.
There was no solution and no understanding.
Yo personalmente me he sentido engañada a muchos niveles. No...
