Restaurante O Grelhador — Restaurant in Machico

I recently had the pleasure of dining at O Grelhador, and it was a truly exceptional experience. One of the first things I noticed was the convenience of parking right next to the restaurant, making it easy to access without the hassle of searching for a spot.

Once inside, the stunning view immediately caught my attention. Whether seated indoors or on the terrace, you get to enjoy a breathtaking panorama that adds an extra layer of relaxation to your meal.

Starting with the food, the fish dishes were simply superb—perfectly cooked, fresh, and seasoned just right. For seafood lovers, this is a real treat.

The meat dishes were equally impressive (espetada and some beef) —tender, juicy, and expertly prepared. Every bite was packed with flavor and care, making it a standout for meat enthusiasts.

To top it all off, the fresh-squeezed orange juice was incredibly fresh and full of natural sweetness—perfect for complementing the meal.

The food was about average and the waitress was friendly but it was very expensive for the quality of the food . The beer glass I was first given was not clean and had something organic stuck to the inside of the glass. I was the only one in the restaurant and the three waitresses were sitting near me and talking very loudly and incessantly the whole time and they had a large TV playing VERY LOUDLY the whole time and kept changing channels from news to game shows. The combination of extremely loud talking and a blaring tv were the worst atmosphere of any restaurant I’ve experienced. I hope they read this and clean up...

The place has stunning views of the village and the mountain, but the esperada at least isn't good at all. It cost 15€ as in most of the places in the area, but it didn't come with a side of fries or rice or salad as in does in many other places around. The espetada was disappointing, instead of big pieces of beef they were really small and most of them was pure fat. In fact 2 out of the 6 pieces than comes were exclusively fat that we couldn't even cut and of course we couldn't eat. The meat was also very raw. Wouldn't recommend at all despite...
