This is the kind of restaurant that put Portugal on the list of excellent food, way back before everything became touristy, hipstery gentrified and rubbish. Good traditional everything: food, portions service, attention, prices, environment. It took me straight back to my childhood where we would leave a place satisfied. After a week of disappointing eating experiences on the coast this was such an amazingly good surprise. The food was so gorgeous (carne de porco a alentejana and carne de porco com migas e ovo) that my children begged me to order more portions, so we did. Drinks also really reasonably priced. We even want to come up from the Algarve just to eat there at some point. And don't anyone dare criticize the decor, that is part of the attraction, reminds me of a time eating out was wholesomely good before people decide to meddle with the quality of everything.
