Tapas bar for foreigners not really a restaurant (mostly cold dishes), Vinho in jarro (tinto meio 4€, un litro 6,5€) was below average (don't understand why to save here, most of the BiB wines are excellent in Portugal, this wine was light and taste sour like vinegar)
Service by young girls maybe bit too attentive (I prefer the tradional restaurant setup, more remote, guests can refill glas by themselves)
For the food you need to understand that the Chef prepares "Tapas" (= petiscos in Portuguese) but with kind of full service Restaurant approach not like in spanish Tapas bars. In my eyes portions are limited and mostly food is cold! (except sopa 2€)
Very portugues is obligatory Olives (1,5€ nice sweet) and marinated carrots (1€ typical from Algarve). The latter was already too long in the marinate (fermented or too much vinegar!).
Our smoked salmon was high quality served in "smoke" but these small cakes werenot Blinis (chef back to school please) 12,5€ steep price for the show presentation with smoke.....
The mexilhão do mediterrâneo (7,5€) were more a chevice put in mussel's shell- I suppose he didn't want to admit that he's out of order and did improvise?
Presunto on wooden board (7€) with pickeld vegetables was disappointig as eating "jamon" without bread is bit strange? 3-4 pickles only
Sobremesa (usual the a highlight in every Portuguese restaurant) was a huge disappointment: very sweet egg foam with strawberry jam - they offer for 2,5€ on the bill it was 4,5€ - "system error" - I don't believe you guys!
Overall in a nutshell: I won't send anybody over to try this place even the concept is different from the masses. At the end there are too many negative things...
Read moreI have been here with a group before and really enjoyed it, this time just the two of us. As you can see from the photos the the food is beautifully presented it is also very very nice. No dish disappointed, but my favourite was the Beef Carpaccio. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The atmosphere was good, some locals in chatting to the staff and made it feel very sociable and friendly. If you're down that way give it a go, in fact it's worth taking a trip out to. All in all a very pleasant dining experience, plus the town is quite pretty and worth a post-prandial stroll. BTW the food 2 X coffees & carafe of wine €47 for two - great value given the...
Read moreA nice little place on the main junction of Monocarapacho - a small nice village - and so is this restaurant. They are calling their offering Tapas, but it's more like regular mid-size dishes. Some look fantastic but I did not try. The humus was good, different in its taste and interestingly served. The prices are not-so-low, probably aiming at the expat and tourist population. Service is friendly, not speedy but accurate. They also...
