Amazing visit lovely, friendly welcome when we first arrived. Menu is varied in both fish and meat and nothing was a problem even though we don't speak fluent Portuguese we easily overcame the language barriers with our lovely waitresses. We ordered a Chateubriand for 2 people and it was served on a hot stone so we could slice and cook as much or as little to our liking.....just perfect. Got to say now this meal was the best of the week and we can't highly recommend a visit enough. You also have to order the slightly sparkling house white wine served as half a carafe it was light, sparkling, sweet and just 2 glasses was enough to feel slightly woozy...😁😁. All in all a gem of a restaurant off the beaten track and a must visit destination for a wonderful meal set in a traditional restaurant with superb food and a charming ambience. You will be sorely tested to beat this restaurant for value for money. Our little boy chose spaghetti Bolognese we had a cover of bread and olives when we arrived. The steak, home made desserts. Carafe of wine, bottled water, freshly squeezed orange juice and cappuccinos to finish on and the bill was still only 48 euros....! We left a sizeable tip which was greatly appreciated but humbly received. See you again soon to try the clam and...
Read moreNice place to have a long lunch. Service is variable as the daughter can be quite dismissive and unfriendly but mum and young waitress were sweet. Shame we've been here 3 times and can wait a long time (1hr+) to be served which is ok but when you're not treated nicely by the daughter it makes you feel a bit upset. You have to ask all the time for things, menu, drinks, order to be taken. When we asked about the desserts we got told "they all have sugar in them" the daughter just didn't have the time or patience for us. She was very nice to the locals and people she knew, no time for people she doesn't know though. Nice food but fish more farmed or frozen and not a huge variety from the region. Food and setting was nice. I don't think the prices are any cheaper here like some other reviews say. Always busy and lots of expats as well as...
Read moreCasa de Rip-Off - cash only!!! This is Portugal not Germany!!!
it starts with the widely Algarve spread 3€ "cuvert" PER PERSON (which is traditionally in Portugal per table or you can choose (and pay) e.g. only bread and olives, or nothing - in this place it's mandatory!), continues with waitresses who ask for "bebidas" as an opening phrase (like in Germany - this never happens in Portugal, waiter takes full order at once) and ends with the fact that there is no credicard (or MB) accepted.
There is absolutely no reason for a cuvert of 3€/person (table clothes paper, tissues paper, very simple farmer place "casa de pasto"-yes....
I'm sure this place has a long history in the in the hills north of Olhao (far from the action) but what they charge 2025 without even the lowest service is a shame!
Such places arenot to...
