Irmãos Faria - Prato do dia — Restaurant in Paredes

Had to get some lunch on our way to a next AirBnB, and this place was on the route. Apparently they were about to close for between lunch and dinner service, but they allowed us in anyway. A very friendly waiter, who did not really speak any English helped us with a baby chair for our kid and was quick with a menu. They had 1/2 and full portion meals; half between 8 and 18 euros per portion, full for about 30ish. We noticed however there was a 4 person dish for 36 euros so we made the assumption half a portion would be enough per person, and possibly even a lot.

We had BBQ chicken and a house steak, both 1/2 portion. Size-wise I am glad we did! The steak was HUGE (would guess at least 600 grams) and tasted perfect. The BBQ chicken was also done very well and covered a big plate. I could only imagine the waiter misunderstood me and accidentally gave us the full portion steak; where we come from this portion would cost you atleast 40 to 50 euros. Nonetheless, it was delicious and despite the size, easily finished.

When asking for the bill, I already prepared myself to find the full portion on it (accepted my faith of paying that, since it was so good) but it turned out to actually be the half portion. Shocking. Cannot imagine how they are able to serve so much for relatively little.

If you enjoy your meats, especially in large portions, go to this place ASAP!

On top of this, service remained top notch, despite the fact we arrived when they were about to have a few hours off.

Realize it might be wise maybe not to order per person, but share a bit.. either that or prepare for battle and a solid after...
