O Farela — Restaurant in Penafiel

Landed at the airport around lunch time and wanted to stop somewhere for a bite on our way to Douro Valley. This restaurant popped up close to the highway and we stopped for some food - soon it was clear we would not get around trying some awesome wine also. I had a great experience at O Farela, a cozy and charming restaurant in Penafiel. The food was delicious and authentic, with a variety of dishes to choose from. The portions were generous and the prices were reasonable. The staff was friendly and attentive, making me feel welcome and comfortable. Uma experiência a nunca mais repetir. Quando entrei no estabelecimento, perguntei se era possível almoçar, a resposta do dono foi se tinha fome sim. O tom não foi em brincadeira… Mais tarde pedi as bebidas ao dono do restaurante e o mesmo vinha com a carta dos vinhos, como não foi Vinho, simplesmente a resposta foi que tinha que ser com outra pessoa pois não era com ele. Com um tom arrogante. Até perguntei á esposa se naquele restaurante só se poderia beber álcool. A resposta foi que “ah ele estava a brincar” eu respondi que o álcool faz mal ao cérebro. Por isso queria uma Coca-Cola. O pior ainda estava para vir!!! Quando uma cliente pediu um copo de vinho branco ou verde. Vejo o senhor aproximar-se com o copo, de uma mesa que os clientes já tinham saído e encheu o copo com vinho e entregou na mesa da cliente que pediu. Fiquei sem reação…. Uma vergonha em todos os aspetos. Estava com a minha esposa e com o meu filho, somos jovens , estávamos arranjados, mas….. Não éramos os senhores Doutores Engenheiros que bebem vinho , pois deu-me a entender que nesse estabelecimento só se bebe álcool.Não recomendo por estes aspectos.
