VERY BAD EXPERIENCE First of all I want to say that I love portuguese food and I have visited Porto Santo and Madeira quite few times. Well, as I was around this area I decided to try out this restaurant.

First point: different dishes for portuguese clients and "tourists".

Explanation: I asked for the dish of the day or the suggestion of the day (something very common in all portuguese restaurants) the waiter say that they don't have one. Only the menu dishes. Ok...then I asked which dishes he recommended he said fish and sea food. Ok, so I ordered a starter: fried shrimp. I even asked him few times as I was doubting between two dishes. In the meantime I see many people entering the restaurant, mostly local portuguese men (some of them no wearing a mask). While waiting I went to the toilet and I saw that all those men were eating the same dish. Surprise! A dish not mentioned in the "menu" I have been given nor mentioned by the waiter when specifically asked about it.

Second point: poor quality food. Food in a horrible state.

Explanation: The shrimps arrived floating in a red sauce (not mentioned in the menu in which the dish appears as "fried shrimp"). I didn't say anything and tried one: the shrimp was soo old that it was hard to peel it. I believe they were trying to hide the horrible state of the shrimp with the sauce.

Third point: lack of integrity and poor customer service.

Explanation: When I mentioned the that shrimps were old the waiter called the "chef" and they both deny everything. Then, I asked about the dish that the portuguese men were having and they said that it was the dish of the day but they only offer it to "usual clients". I said that I was going to pay for the drinks and the bread (bolo de caco) not for the shrimps given their poor quality. The woman "chef" argue that they were fresh but finally recognized that they weren't and that they don't have a ship/boat to fish (well, if you don't have fish in a good state don't try to sell it).

Worst experience ever in a Portuguese restaurant. Tip: If you don't want to expend your holidays sick in your room is better to avoid...

Eu e um grupo de amigos fomos jantar a este restaurante, pedimos 1 picado, 2 doses de batata e 2 bolos do caco (pratos simples para não termos q ficar muito tempo à espera), mas não adiantou de absolutamente nada. Ficamos cerca de 35/40 min à espera q os pratos chegassem, quando chegaram, ainda chegaram errados, vieram 2 picados sendo q apenas foi pedido 1, ou seja +15.50€ na conta. Comemos porque somos contra desperdiçar comida mas 15.50€ a mais sem pedir, não é brincadeira. Não trouxeram guardanapos, nem bandejas de mesa, nem talheres, nem pratos individuais. Éramos 6 e tivemos de comer todos da mesma bandeja, ou com as mãos, ou como se fosse um dentinho, com mini palitos que lá haviam. No picado a carne veio cheia de nervo, nem dava para mastigar. Ou seja, do picado, so sobrou a batata e umas rodelas de tomate e azeitonas, visto que é um picado individual, e só se aproveita a batata, por 15.50€ é um roubo. O que vale é que o bolo do caco com manteiga (sem alho porque a verdade é q não tinha alho nenhum) e a batata frita (sem sal) deram para enganar o estômago, apesar da quantidade absurda de óleo, e da quantidade miserável que é servida, por preços exorbitantes (só isto foram mais d 50€), meio bolo do caco 4.5, querem um bolo do caco inteiro? Paguem lá 9€. Por momentos achei que vinha com ouro ou então o alho da manteiga era importado do Dubai, porque o alho era escasso. Com o valor gasto era pra ser um jantar, mas foi apenas um lanche, sem qualidade nenhuma, um papo seco com queijo e fiambre sabia melhor e era bem mais barato. Chegando a casa tivemos que jantar de novo, para não passarmos fome. Ah, e pra não falar do rapaz que nos trouxe as bebidas, parecia que alguém lhe tinha comido o jantar, chegou à nossa mesa de trombas e simplesmente jogou as bebidas, os copos e foi embora, sem A nem B, super arrogante. Na hora do pagamento confesso que estávamos quase indo embora sem pagar, ficamos cerca de 30 minutos à espera que alguém viesse à nossa mesa trazer a conta, estávamos sempre a fazer sinais aos empregados e a pedir a conta, e eles só nos diziam para esperar, e esperamos…durante quase meia hora. Passado esse tempo vem um rapaz e traz-nos a conta, daí a 2 minutos, chega outro rapaz com a conta de novo. Até parecia uma piada, ficamos tanto tempo à espera, mas quando vem um, vem outro atrás. Pedimos para dividir a conta e foi mais meia hora para conseguirem fazer cálculos e dividir as contas, eu e os meus amigos tivemos d fazer as contas pelos empregados, e explicar quanto cada um de nós estava a dever. Por final, não tinham troco, pediram-nos para aguardar. E que remédio…esperamos mais uma vez. Detalhe: A casa nem estava cheia, nem quero imaginar se estivesse, ou entao se eu tivesse pedido pratos mais compostos. Fora isso, foi tudo muito bom. Afinal estávamos de férias e depois de um belo dia de praia não íamos nos stressar com isso. Mas se fosse um grupo menos paciente, iria dar uma confusão...

I ate twice here and both time I did enjoy the food and the service. Congratulations!

My one star review is only because of the toilet. How on earth such a nice place has a toilet in that deplorable state. Web spiders and spiders on it is no something that appear overnight in such quantity.

I wouldn't expect bartenders, waitress or cookers do that job. You need to hire someone to properly clean it.

At the end of the day I'm wondering myself if the kitchen is on the same state. Hope not.

Also I notice a couple with kids that had a chair stacked on top of each to make it higher for the daughter. Get some child chairs. The child slip once and almost went to the floor.
