The overall experience is ok, but there's a lot to improve. After going to similar restaurants (i.e. Omakase Ri in Lisbon) or even comparing it with real Izakayas in Japan, I have to confess they have a lot to do in terms of receiving guest, turning the meal into an experience, keep the environment (sushimans talk loudly to the costumers they are serving at a specific moment) and maintain food rounds in a carrousel of flavours that starts smooth and end up blowing minds. I find the 65euros menu price acceptable, but probably i would get out hangry if they wouldn't had served bread along with the last course before desert - furthermore, at the initial approach in the restaurant they talk a lot about such a bread, elevating the expectations, but it end ups being a bit of a disapointment. The stylish square design of the ambience, along with the beautifully presented bowls and dishes, created a wonderful atmosphere. However, the background street rap music didn't seem to match the style.
The service was excellent and up to par, which really added to the overall experience.
We decided to try the omakase experience, where we left it up to the chef to choose and prepare our dishes. It was truly something special! The chef asked us about our preferences and then prepared meals that blew us away.
Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant and cannot...
Read moreWe had such a nice experience at Kaigi! At first I was hesitant to go with Omakase and I am so glad that I did! All the dishes were amazing but I was blown away by the dessert. The service was very attentive, professional and friendly at the same time. They made us feel at home. The decor and the music were very pleasant too. I am so glad that this restaurant is in our neighbourhood, will definitely go back soon!
Edit as of July 2024: We visited Kaigi quite a few times after my initial review, we brought in multiple friends as well. Our experience has always been great, the food consistently good and all of our guests thanked us for introducing them to Kaigi. Some even joined us for a second...
