This is a real local gem. We've already been twice during our trip to Terceira and I wouldn't mind going again. They specialize in grilled fish they catch themselves. It's really fresh and super tasty. Even if you're not a fan of dealing with whole fish (like me), still give it a try. It's really worth the effort because it's probably the best grilled fish I've ever had. The owners are super friendly and the son speaks very good English. They don't have a menu, instead he explains what kind of fish they have available and gives recommendations. Very old-school and unique experience. He's also happy to chat. The restaurant is heavily frequented with locals which is a good sign. In case one is really not a fan of fish, they have filet mignon as well (haven't tried it). Definitely try the house wine and local liquor as well. Parking is easily available on the street. I would definitely go here for lunch...
Read moreAmazing, fabulous, 100 stars! O Raul is a charming little family run restaurant. The day prior after the restaurant closes the fish are caught by the sons and their father. There is no set menu, you ask them what they have and they’ll tell you and provide guidance - then take the order on their notepad. One son is the chef the other one waits the tables and takes the orders - excellent English speaker, cash only. It’s a very small place, we went here twice on our 6 days on the island. Got lucky getting a spot. It’s super charming, great conversation with the waiter and learned about the restaurants history. You don’t get better and fresher fish than here - once I had the Boca Negra and once the Barracuda, both white fish. Their local white wine tastes nicely with the fish and at the end you can get a local liquor (Nevda hope I spell this correctly). Will be back one day - obrigada for your...
Read moreA beautiful family run traditional restaurant, I was greeted with a big smile in a bustling environment. The restaurant has been converted from his grandmas house with relics from the past hanging on the walls. I was given 4 options, fresh fish done two ways , octopus that is slowly marinated for 4-5 hours in a delicious sauce, or the steak fillet. The seafood is caught the day before by the two sons, one is a waiter and the other is the cook. They explained that they go out spear fishing and fishing almost everyday to catch there products. They also grow their own grape vines for local winery that is down the road. After travelling for the past 3 months all over the Europe this has been my favourite meal, everything was perfect, from hospitality to the food. Cannot recommend enough. Much love to the beautiful family that owns...
