Went here yesterday.
First, no reservation is possible, you have to wait for a table. Also very limited schedule, they close at 9.
The space is ok, but it was extremely hot. Had to continuosly drink to bear the heat when it wasn't even 26° C outside. Can't imagine how hot it gets if the temperaturw is higher.
Food was ok, nothing above the ordinary. I have spent two weeks in the Açores and this is an ok meal but many other spots were better. The octopus was quite tough even though it is supposed to be roasted.
The staff were quite rude. Especially the cook/owner/manager or whoever it was that brought the stew. I tried to ask for a plate as one of us did not receive one and he did not even respond to me even though he clearly heard me, and had a very angry expression. The expression might be the result of us arriving 30 mins before closing time, but they could have refused us if they did not want our business. I would rather leave than be treated badly.
To top it off it is cash only. It is 2023 and not a third world country. This is quite inconvenient for customers in a small town and it is clearly to choose what to declare as income or not. Fortunately we had enough cash.
All in all, it was disappointing and not an enjoyable evening with below...
Read moreWe read very good comments about restaurant and expected a good food, but our experience was quite disappointing. Owner didn’t take time to advise what they have on meniu ( it was in Portuguese ). We said that we would like to eat something from fish,so we took his suggestion for 2 persons . For price of 36 eur we got small boiled fish with potatoes. Taste was not special, lots of bones and we were surprised how this dish can be sold for 2 persons, specially considering that big part of the fish was just bones. Maybe it was some special fish, but it looked and tasted as simple perch. Price and quality was not reasonable at all. Not...
Read moreA unique experience. The owner runs the whole operation by himself, explaining the (Portuguese only) menu, preparing / delivering the food, and delivering drinks. The food was truly amazing. Lots of traditional options, including alcatra, limpets, fried rabbit, and multiple seafood options. I get the impression that the menu varies. The space is small and the hours are limited, so reserve ahead! We were able to reserve a table for 7 through FB Messenger, as we couldn't connect by calling the phone number. This place is definitely worth driving to Biscoitos for, even if you aren't...
