O Grelhador — Restaurant in Ribeira Grande

I had one of the worst dining experiences here. We had reservations and from the start, I was told there was no fish, but the staff said they would “arrange” a piece of codfish for me. An hour and a half later, my party of nine had all received and finished their meals while I was still waiting for mine. To make matters worse, there was no bread served either as they ran out.

Eventually, I canceled my order since everyone else at my table had already eaten. I later learned that the chef/owner, who was busy drinking beers with a guest, had burned my codfish and thrown it in the garbage. When I addressed the issue, I was told we could just leave since “other people were waiting for the table.”

The prices are nowhere. The bill is just a list of things with no prices next to them. They put on the table things that you do not order and then they charge you for them. We paid 31€ for two picanhas, 2 small beers, one small bottle of water, and one bottle of larangada (and the cheese and bread they give you as soon as you sit).
