As a Portuguese person who knows and truly appreciates traditional Portuguese cuisine, I was quite disappointed with my visit to Cabra Macho. I had heard so many good things about the place, so I went in with high expectations! Unfortunately, they were not met. What I ordered fell short of what I consider authentic and well-prepared Portuguese food. The migas, in particular, were a real let-down: far from the comforting, flavourful dish they should be. The meat was also dry and bland, lacking the seasoning and care that typically go into such dishes. It felt as though the menu had been designed with a good effort to represent Portuguese cuisine, but sadly it missed the key ingredients: flavour, knowledge, and soul. I don’t mean to say that everything on the menu is necessarily bad! Perhaps I was just unlucky with my choices, but it felt more like a tourist trap than a place that honours our culinary traditions. There was also a lot of noise, a chaotic atmosphere, and we waited nearly an hour for a table. All in all, I don’t intend to return. A...

Got there at around 20:30, the restaurant doesn't take reservations and that is completely understandable, me and my group were willing to wait, no problem, we waited until 21:45, when we were called into the restaurant, we noticed the door had a note that said "after 22H anything you order will have 15% added to it's price" so we sat down and I clearly stated to one of the waiters, in a joking manner "please take our order before 22H so we don't pay the 15% extra", and they said someone would be along to take our order, no one came to take the order until 22H, when I asked the waiter if the 15% wouldn't apply because we had been waiting inside the restaurant with our order ready for 15 minutes, the waiter was rude and said that it was 22H so the 15% extra would apply, this was the first time I visited this cramped noisy place, and it was also the last, the food is mediocre, would...

Cabra Macho is a hidden gem in Sintra that offers an unforgettable dining experience. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm, inviting atmosphere that perfectly blends rustic charm with modern touches. The staff is very friendly and attentive, making you feel like a valued guest from start to finish. The menu is a celebration of Portuguese cuisine, with a focus on fresh, local ingredients. Each dish is beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The grilled octopus was tender and perfectly seasoned, while the lamb was succulent and cooked to perfection. The wine selection is extensive, featuring a great mix of local and international options that pair wonderfully with the food. Cabra Macho is a must-visit for anyone in Sintra looking for an authentic taste of Portugal in a cozy, welcoming setting.

The food was ok, not too amazing, but they have many small dishes to try. Fried eggs are good fried beans are very normal. Smoky cheese with mushroom is good French fries with raw egg is quite interesting, the staff will mix the egg at the table. We were recommended by friend of Their pudding, but it was just ok, very solid egg but a bit hard. The staff is very friendly but very busy, because there were only two for the entire restaurant and their business was so good, we had to wait for 20mins to be seated and another long waiting for order. The problem is the restaurant is small and full, so it was way too noisy and crowded. Can’t hear each other, it’s not a pleasant place for dining with friends because you really can’t talk

A Must-Visit in Sintra! My partner and I are on a mission to make sure our family and friends never miss out on this gem. We practically bring the whole crew here every chance we get! It's our secret spot for unforgettable food and even better memories! The restaurant has a lively, welcoming atmosphere, with Portuguese music adding to the cozy vibe. They serve a fantastic variety of dishes, but some standouts include the Peixinhos da Horta, Ovos Rotos, and their hearty sandwiches like the Sandes de Alheira e ovo estrelado and Sandes de Patroa. Don’t miss the cold beer and the divine stew sandwich! It’s truly something special! NOTE: They don't accept reservations but It's definitely worth the wait!
