The food is not worth it. The experience was awful. I don't recommend this place to anyone, especially NOT tourists. First, we were seated by the owner who didn't really make us feel very welcome, who took our orders but then totally forgot, or intentionally didn't serve us the main course. The place was totally empty when we arrived, maybe one family who seemed done with their food. Even then, we waited for over 2.5 hours before we got our food. The staff and the owner made sure ALL of the local Portuguese/Caucasians were served before us, even though they came HOURS after we did. There were people (groups of 6+) who came in hours after us, they got their foods, they ordered dessert, AND were paying their bills before we started wondering why we weren't being served. After asking about our orders 3 times and over 3 hours of nibbling on bread...we finally got our food, and it was served with absolute worst service. The lamb we ordered barely had any meat on it, it was just bones...and it was pricey. It seemed like they gave us literally the bare bones. Fries were way too oily. The chicken was good, but had way too much garlic. Potatoes were burned. In retrospect, we probably should have walked out.
A message to Americans, and people of color/diverse backgrounds, AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. It's not worth it. Drive down or walk half a block down the hill and there's a cafe with red coca-cola umbrella's with really good sandwiches and the nicest staff.
IT seemed like the owner was a little pretentious, and ignorant. He probably has never left this little north part of Portugal, so it was hard for him to provide service for people from diverse backgrounds. Unfortunate. For the future, if you don't want to serve anyone-just tell them you have no...don't waste their time. Tourist's bring money to your business and country, treating them like that because of their race is unethical and classless. It leaves a bad taste in your mouth...like the food in...
Read moreThis restaurant has really cool vibes, it looks like a cozy tavern from medieval times! My husband and I liked it so much, we went 2 days in a row.
First night, we got olives, melon with ham and padron peppers to start. Everything tasted great but we were already starting to feel full when our main dish, the veal with mushroom sauce, came. It was a massive portion for 2 people, complete with rice, fries and salad. We managed to finish it but it was a lot of food.
The next day, we went back for lunch and this time we ordered a 1/2 portion of the chicken with mustard sauce and that was big enough for 2 to share.
I highly recommend sharing half portions of the main dishes while trying a couple starters. All the starters we had were excellent, particularly the melon with ham. The presunto (ham) there was...
Read moreVisited the restaurant in March 2022. Chose the restaurant as it was pretty much the only option available during lower season on a Friday evening. Unfortunately, my family and I didn't have a good experience at this restaurant. The presentation and taste of the meals were horrendous considering the price was on the upper 20s (euros). Even the appetizer was horrendous - dried/old bread. The steak was a disaster, super salty, not well cooked and served with watery greased vegetables. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this restaurant. The waiter tried his best to be attentive and polite, but the food isn't good at all! Keep driving and try a...
