Big, rustic, hearty, meaty classics.

Favas guisadas (fava beans in sauce with pork belly and sausage) was outstanding. As were the local alheira sausage croquetas and the fresh cheese drizzled with herbs and local olive oil. Wonderful almond and chestnut panna cotta dessert. Friendly waitress was able to help in English FYI - and she made a very nice pairing suggestions for my dessert. I came on a Monday of Carnival weekend, so hard to say if its usually this busy but it was full when I was here. Waited about 30-40 for a table... maybe best to make a reservation.

These are big hearty meals, for a couple I'd get just one entree and 1-2 starters rather than 2 entrees... we got 2 entrees and couldn't finish. Each entree was about 15.

Excellent service and excellent food !! The restaurant was completely full when we arrived and they gave us a table within 5 minutes of waiting. The staff was super efficient and the food arrived very quickly, considering the restaurant was full. We ordered vegetarian alheira and the vegetarian chamuças and they were amazing. The alheira tasted exactly like the original, one more proof that it's not the chicken that has the flavour, it's the seasoning and quality of the ingredients. And the food was just overall very tasty and well made. For the desserts I recommend the brunette pudding (pudim de castanha) and the mango mousse. It's familiar space, comfortable...

We were greeted by a wonderful lady who made us very welcome. We were a party of three all with very different tastes... my son had the wild boar stew and loved it, it was a substantial pot full and could easily have been shared between two. My partner had the cod which he loved ... I had grilled chicken with salad. All this was washed down with a lovely bottle of house red from the local cooperative winery and chilld water. We finished with a chestnut pannacotta and lime meringue pie. It was a wonderful meal in a beautiful restaurant... I would wholeheartedly...
